My undercabinet lights are perfect.  I love them.  Out of the darkness!!

My family never paid one bit of attention to football.  But both my parents were born in Texas.  My sister graduated from the University of Texas (she was there after Charles Whitman but I think he knew she was coming). I have a fair number of distant relatives sprinkled around the state (and if you count the dead ones, that number grows to a boat load). My brother lives outside of Austin. And I will always be a huge fan of Ann Richards.  So...

Hook 'em

I ordered a stool for the kitchen counter.  I'm thinking that it might be a more comfortable place to eat once in a while than the living room coffee table.  Plus most people who come in here and stand at the kitchen counter (which is open to the living room) invariably say 'you should get a counter stool.'  Now I have.

I also ordered a harddrive for the laptop.  FedEx showed it out for delivery yesterday morning but out for delivery to Auburn, WA.  Auburn ain't that close.  I called.  The snarky bitch at FedEx read me off the address which was both incomplete and included a wrong zip code.  Then she proceeded to tell me - and I quote directly here "Our ground people have a way old computer so it will take them a couple of days to get the info.  I wouldn't look for your package until about Monday."  Thanks, sweetie!  Way to support the company, too, by the way.

The address I gave CMS was complete and correct according to their website and email.  So I sent them a little love note.  I expected to hear nothing.  (Look down... see way down there?  Those are my expectations when dealing with most merchants these days.)  However, I just got a note from Gary who said that he checked the label info and it was correct.  He's looking into the situation and will let me know what he finds.  Thanks, Gary!

I have an 11 a.m conference call today and then I need to make a quick run to the library.

I got a whiney email from my sister today asking how Mom was and complaining that she did not hear anything from me about her yesterday.  It was on top of the note I sent on Tuesday saying she was home, in her chair with her sitters.  Poor sister, I guess her phone is broken.  Good thing she isn't here because well, I think, then her face would be broken.  oops.

Sounds like you get on with your sister about like two of my brothers get on. In other words, it's a bit tense being in the same room with them.

UT did good, huh?

And I was always an Ann Richards fan too.

That sounds pretty typical for FedEx. Instead of delivering packages to Redmond, they often call me from some wee village near Olympia asking why they can't find my house; even if the address label is correct, there just seems to be something about their IT systems that will screw it up for you.

Just pray you don't have to go find their offices to pick it up. A trip to the FedEx branch in Issaquah usually means at least two hours disappear out of your day... :(

But was it FedEx Ground? Or FedEx Express (never mind the redundancy)?

Not that it makes a difference. They're both incompetent... took them five days last summer to make a delivery to our house from that distribution center that is Auburn.

And don't even get me started on the 'signature waiver' so you don't have to be there for delivery--I have discovered there's a special 'signature waiver waiver' that a shipper can use to negate your 'signature waiver'.

Feh.

Bwa-ha-ha-ha! Had to laugh at the sister comment...and having just returned from having to deal with mine for one day too many, I know what you mean-bang, zoom to the moon!

Ann Richards was the speaker at my undergrad commencement (University of Houston). She said she wasn't wearing the traditional cap with her gown because "the laws of hairspray and physics wouldn't allow it."
