bill_schubert is building an enormous expansion to his hen house. I've been watching him all morning on the camera he so kindly set up for me.



My guess is that it's a screened in area so that humans can get in there and the chickens can play outside without varmints getting to them. Just as I started this entry, he sent me this picture which I LOVE!



It's a diversion from the ballgame. 1st inning and the Mariners are already losing. Sigh.

EDIT: I get it!!! He just added the chicken ramp. So cool.

Isn't it amazing? I'm just in awe of what he's doing. And, his chicks are really growing up...

So the whole extension thing grew in scope when I realized I wanted to be able to go in where they are. So that required a door. So a screen door is 80 inches high. So the extension has to be about 7 feet high. One thing lead to another.

The chickens will have about 64 square feet outside and 32 square feet inside.

Dana already said something about the next batch of chicks.

I put in a dog door on the end so I've got one of those slide things to close it with. Lazy but it works. I'm done for the day. Just need to add the chicken wire, some caulk and eventually finish the painting.

I'm taking a nap.

It's now a Chicken Estate/Compound. Next up a pool and roller coaster? I think dog door is brilliant. New chick babies.

This whole thing is just amazing to me. I love it.
