You can do it on a Kickstarter-by-Kickstarter basis. I usually leave them on until it funds; I try to leave them on until I get my reward. But if they're hitting me with ads, especially _after_ I've gotten the reward, I turn off updates for that project. (I don't think I've ever done it before getting the reward, because there's usually an update then and I want to make sure I get it.)
It's on the 'Notifications' tab of your account settings - scroll down to find Project Updates, and just untick the ones for the spammy projects.
Yep. Totally get that. But, one of the campaigns I'm backing keeps pimping out other campaigns that I do not care one single bit about. The other one sent out an 'ad' for something today so now, once again, I've had to just plug the pipe. I used to back way more than I do now just because of this.
