I slept an hour past my normal waking up time this morning. i didn't mean to but no biggie. The main reason for getting up early these days is to avoid the traffic coming home from the pool. Friday is the lightest weekday traffic wise and I hit a little but not much so no harm/no fowl.

The game last night was a hard one. There was no score until after the starting pitchers retired and then it was really anyone's game. The Yankees really do suck. It was amazing to watch them fuck up right an left. The Mariners do that kind of stupid stuff all the time but it was shocking to see the Yankees do it. But, they won anyway - kind of by accident. It's clear that the next three games - all against the Yankees are as easy to call as a coin toss.

I will say, however, that Yankee fans are the Trumps of the baseball world. They are all just as obnoxious, rude, loud and offensive as they can possibly be. It's actually kind of amazing how horrible they are.

To the right of my seat is a 3 seat group that are 'owned' by a casino, I'm pretty sure. So far for nearly every game I've been to, this really nice, young (25)ish blonde girl comes with two men - a different two men every time. Last night she sat next to me and was just the perfect baseball companion. She paid focused attention to the game and clearly knew what she was watching. There were tons of other women in seats all around us who were only there, apparently, to take selfies. And I mean that's what they did all freakin' night long. I'm down with one and maybe a couple for backup but 5 or 6 every single inning???

Any way, blonde girl and I watched the game, she did not even try for chat, except to comment now and again on a particular play. Most pleasant. The people on the left of me didn't even show up.

It's such a luxury not to have to get in a car and fight traffic after the games. My front door is almost exactly the perfect distance from the stadium. My legs get stretched and my spine re-aligned after sitting so long. It's an excellent walk.

Today I think I'm going over to Factoria. It's maybe 20 minutes from here. I'll stop in Walmart but the main reason is to get some Goldberg's potato salad and coleslaw.

Then I'll do some sewing - my bag is nearly done.

Nothing else on my hit parade today.

I don't like the Yankees, neither. Mariners need to get their act together in the next 3 games.

I don't know much about baseball, but I'm wondering why the same two teams would play each other four times in a row. I've never heard of that happening in any other sport I know about or have played.

Oh, that makes sense. They must get tired playing so many games though.

Not really. There isn't that much running involved in baseball. Fitness is still important, but more to maintain strength and agility. The only players who require much endurance are pitchers -- and teams generally have a rotation of 5 or 6 starting pitchers who rarely play more than once every 5 days. For everyone else, the travel is likely more tiring than the games.

Boy, what's been happening to the Yankees? They used to be someone I'd get nervous about playing (Rangers girl, here). Nowadays, it's more of a joke than anything. (Granted, so is our season but c'est la vie.)

Can confirm Yankees fans are always the worst.

Also, can I say I'm so envious you live close enough to walk to the stadium! What a fun treat.

Wow. That sounds like my kind of dream (apart from maybe the traffic that comes with it?). But when you're close enough to walk to the games - perfect!

I think probably I'm thinking of the Mariners from 17 years ago - I remember those years! Especially because y'all always had our number back then, lol. I did have an old schoolmate pitch there for maybe a year or two - Blake Beavan? Not sure if he's still in the big leagues these days, but he had a killer fastball as a teenager.

Seattle sounds beautiful in general.

Definitely makes sense. Glad you were able to enjoy the game also with a girl who knows her baseball! Makes it nice.

Hope you have a wonderful night. :)

Glad you've got someone around you who knows the game. Similarly, I always enjoy watching soccer more if the people around me know the game and are there for the game.

As a kid on Long Island, I was one of those horrible Yankees fans. It seemed like almost every year it was the Yankees and the Dodgers in the series, The Bronx vs Brooklyn. The Giants played in New Jersey, they were not a factor. We moved to Seattle when there was no baseball. Sick's Stadium on Rainier Avenue wasn't much better than a high school baseball field. There was a minor league team, the Rainiers, for a very short time, and then the MLB Pilots who sucked and were quickly sold to Milwaukee when I was at the U. Seattle is more of a football town, and eventually I lost interest in baseball. The Mariners reinforced that. :-)

Oh, yeah, I see that all the time. Plus people (mostly but not exclusively women) sitting behind us talking nonstop about anything but the game.

Whether that's better or worse than the guy in the next section on Tuesday who was definitely paying attention to the game, to the extent that he was shouting encouragement to every single Red Sox player, in a foghorn voice, is left as an exercise for the reader.

Yeah, I don't know about getting someone removed because they're too enthusiastic, especially for the home team. Mostly I consoled myself with the thought of how hoarse he was going to be the next day.

Had to laugh at the comments about the rude baseball fans. Way back in college I and my friends would go to the Milwaukee County Stadium and root for the Brewers since it's in our back yard. The golden age for us was 1982 era. Molitor, Yount etc. Brewers just haven't been the same since. Back then I'm sure we were considered a bit boisterous and rude. But boy did we have fun. Now I go and these young kids drive me crazy if they are all hopped up and drunk and obnoxious. Now, about all I and my friends can do is throw peanuts at the worst of them. Never have been found out by any of them. I still have my goofy side!

Please don't judge EVERY YANKEE FAN by the obnoxious ones that show up in your stadium. :o)
