My first email this morning was a notice that my email address was being used to recover an account. So I did a little audit. Nothing seemed a miss but for grins, I changed the password. Ohhhhh was a fun process that is. Actually, once I got my phone to play along, it got way easier but getting the phone on line with the new password was frightening.

Last week, I got an envelope from QFC which is a super market chain now owned by Kroger. I rarely go there because the store that is most handy is not one I'm crazy about and there is a Safeway one block over that is easier to get to. Anyway, in the envelope were a dozen coupons - and some big savings - free carton of eggs, free frozen french fries... All but 2 of the coupons were for stuff I buy all the time.

I am not a big coupon person. Once in a blue moon, I'll save one and then usually never use it. So i do that even less often these days. But, 10 coupons for stuff I use and am pretty much currently out of anyway... heck yeah!

$18 savings on a $58 bill? Sign me up! Oh wait, I already did. Like all the big supermarkets, years ago, they started this card thing. It evolved into a phone number thing. When you check out, you give them your phone number, and you save a few bucks and they know everything about your purchasing. People grumble about how it's an invasion of privacy.

Save me more than 31% on my grocery bill and you can invade my privacy all you want.

The pool was packed to the gills this morning. There was even a dog! He didn't swim. I suspect he is a service dog of some sort.

Much of the smoke is gone this morning. The forecast says it will be back later today and the air will be bad again today and tomorrow but right now it's looking pretty darned good.

Baseball tonight is in Kansas City and showing a very likely rain out. Oh well. I have plenty of other stuff to watch. I think I'm going to make the new Mariner coat today.

I'm with you on the invasion of privacy paranoia. I enjoy having customized ads on my pages too.

It rained like cats all morning, but is merely overcast now. I'll keep you posted! :-)

Thunder still rumbling, but nothing's been coming down for some since late morning. It's just that the ground was already saturated. We're under a Flash Flood Watch until tomorrow morning.

ETA: Gates are open, and they plan on an on-time start.

Twitter is saying they've called the game. Apparently it's raining at the K. It's not here, and I'm about twenty minutes away.

Right? Like oh now I know all I like, so all the money in my checking account is gone?

It's the opposite! Even better actually, since regular coupons are designed to get you stuff you wouldn't buy.

I love my digital coupons. I was always forgetting to use the paper ones, and now the store's computer system remembers the digital ones for me. I only wish that they would automatically load to my card those paper coupons that sometimes come out with your sales receipt. Those I still forget to use.

NICE! Yeah, I don't mind the level of invasion of privacy they get. If I ever REALLY want to buy something near-anonymously, all I have to do is not hand over my store card and pay in cash. Of course, then I don't get my discounts or the cash back from my credit card. I don't mind much if they track what I buy, compared to the benefits to me! (But I do wish Target would realize that if I was buying diapers five years ago, and pull-ups 2-3 years ago, and haven't started up again, that MAYBE, just MAYBE, I no longer need coupons for baby gear now.... LOL.)

I gloated for weeks the time I managed to get two good-quality winter coats for less than half price with coupons and rewards and rebates. Would I give them my social security number, a key to my house, or the like? Nope. Will I let them tie my name, address, and email to my purchases and draw their own conclusions from the results? Sure thing. Have fun, guys. :) Just give me coupons. Preferably for things you can tell I buy often!

I feel your pain on the password-changing thing. I've been trying to do that recently, resurrecting my old Google/Android account, switching services from one account to another, re-signing-in everywhere. It is quite nerve-wracking, especially when there is a domino-effect of different two-factor auths and verifiers. A part of me is nostalgic for the days where no one cared about security. In my first job the password to every account on every computer was "sesame".
