Bright Star is a musical written by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. The story was rather predictable but the bluegrass-infused score seems up your alley.

I find it hard to find really satisfying recordings of klezmer music. I love it live - especially anything with Frankie London involved - but it tends to seem too formal on recordings.

My two favorite recordings of Yiddish songs, for what it's worth are Theodore Bikel's rendition of Margaritkelech and Levine, With Your Flying Machine (recorded by Kapelye and also on an NPR compilation of songs from Yiddish radio).

Do you like Bowie?

The recent "Best of Bowie" album is a really good mix of his hits; I say that as a lifetime (practically) listener.

How about the Brat Pack? Will male crooners do too? I saw Susan B., so...Elvis? Dolly Parton?

If you're into heavy ladies who can SING, then give Beth Ditto a chance, but she's rock n' roll. I really dig her stuff though. How are you on Jazz? Ladies who sing the Blues is good stuff too. Jackson 5 classics or remixes? I got some FRESH Japanese ones.

I should change my suggestion to 70's and 80's mixes (looking over it again). Timberlake and Glee threw me to 90's. You may want more musical scores you like. I unabashedly still have Cats in my rotary of song (along with Little Shop of Horrors, etc).

You like ABBA, have you tried Emmon (album The Art & The Evil) and Roisin Murphy too. They mix sounds very well and groovy; might find some similar vibes there, but I'm partial to electro stuff. Also Fujiya & Miyagi (album Transparent Things). That's more in the "Lo-Fi" category of electro (meaning it's got electric or artificial sounds, but it's not meant to be fast paced or too weird -- though weird is also 100% on my menu of sound).

If you type what you like into Last.fm, imho it's very good at offering suggestions and similar stuffs.

I'm thinking since you have Plain White T's in your mix that you may like The Black Keys. You should also check out Walk off the Earth. They have great original songs and fun covers of other hits. I also second fauxklore to check out Twenty One Pilots, Lorde, and Ed Sheeran.
