After a rather lengthy consultation with Dr. Internet, I am pretty darned sure my ear issue is Swimmer's Ear. If it was some kind of infection, I'm pretty sure it would be way worse today and it's not. Plus, thinking back now, I realize it's been coming on for a while but I just didn't realize it.

The main cure is to stop swimming. Nope. Not there yet, if ever. There are over the counter fixes that I'm going to try first and more than one place suggested a hair dryer blast (on cool) into the ear after swimming. This I can do easily.

And, yesterday, I finally remembered Tylenol. That helped tremendously. I'll pop into the drug store after my swim (and ear hair drying) this morning.

The baseball game is at 10 so plenty of day available after.

I had swimmer's ear all the time as a kid. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but I always had to have ear drops, and spend about a week not being able to swim. :(

I avoid going to the doctor, mostly because it's inconvenient and I'm blessed with good health. Anyway, a year ago my right knee was bothering me enough I was afraid I had injured it. They agreed to see me the very next day when I called. Instead of my PCP - the short fat bald man, I got a lovely sort of Jamaican woman with wild dreds and good humor. She listened to me, manipulated my knee, told me it would be fine with rest. I told her I go to class at the gym every day! and she told me I needed to stay home.

And when I looked her in the eye, she said "And if you must go to the gym, no running or jumping." I said "You got a deal!" I was fine soon after. I'm switching doctors.

I was thinking swimmer's ear when you first mentioned it, but I really know nothing about swimmer's ear, so kept my mouth shut.

I'm sure you've worked it out by now, months later, but I found that I avoided swimmers ear with a couple of drops of alcohol in each ear then drained after each swim. Kept ears dry. However, I have never swam every day and daily alcohol in may be more dangerous than swimmer's ear. This tidbit may be both late and useless. Go me. :)

I shall read on of course to find out how you resolved this...
