Stick 'em up

colesdragon saved the day! He suggested Sugru for sticking the webcams up. I had not even thought about that. It's the perfect way to mount the one cam that has to be stuck to glass. I dug into my Sugru stash and even found black like the cam! Right now I have it also taped while the Sugru cures but YEAH!! Thank you, colesdragon.

And then I remembered 3M 300LSE adhesive. A while back, I ordered to motion sensing lights for the kitchen. They came with screw mounts and this 3M 300LSE adhesive. I used the latter to stick them to the wall. 10 minutes after I got the first one mounted, I realized I had mounted it too high so I went to pull it off. That's when I learned the power of 3M 300LSE. If I stuck it on my butt and then stuck my butt on the ceiling, I'd hang there forever. (hehehehe now you have a great visual - can't unsee it can you - hehehehe)

So I ordered a small sheet of it from Amazon just in case. And that case was today. The second cam has to stick to partially porous tile. 3M 300LSE was perfect for that job.

All is done. I'll remove the holding tape tomorrow.

Score! I hope the SUGRU works.

I bought some to try to afix my suction cup baskets to the tile wall in my shower but still haven't used it yet. Now that you've mentioned this 3M 300LSE, I wonder if that might work better? Probably not due to the humidity of the shower.

Anyway, I look forward to hearing how it all held up!

Oh I don't think the 3M 300LSE would be bothered by humidity or even a typhoon. BUT if/when you take the baskets down, the tile will come with it.

The Sugru is a way better choice for that task. It's very forgiving - sticks great and removes great when you are done.

I probably could have used Sugru to stick the cam to the tile but in that case it is direct cam (not cam mount like on the window) and I was a little worried about heat. I am a little worried about if/when they ever want the cam down... :)

At today's first aid course, we were reminded of the dangers of things hanging overhead when checking for hazards. The little memory jog was "fire, wire, gas, glass and the grand piano hanging overhead". Now I have Susan and 3M 300LSE - I sure hope I don't get the giggles during a serious practice session or test tomorrow. Thanks!
