Todays Stuff so far
Jan. 20th, 2006 11:21 amMy Roomba is acting up. Kind of. A little. But maybe not. A couple of times recently, it has balked at various points. But, then, the next time, operated fine. Today, it gave me a signal that something was wrong with the side brush. Sure enough, it was all jammed up with lint. I just removed it. The side brush doesn't really do much on carpet so I just yanked it out. Now, it's doing fine. It has a year's replacement warranty so I'm keeping a close eye out.
Mom has 38,700 miles she is never going to use. So I got onto the US Air site today and discovered that THE only options for 2006 - round trip using 25,000 miles is to leave on January 24 and return on August 8. Seriously. Those are the only two days that have the 25,000 frequent flyer seats available. I called US Air to confirm. Jeff told me that, indeed, it was true.
Jeff: You should check back, though, because a lot of those are just courtesy holds that expire in 3 days.
me: So every three days I should click on every single month to see if there is a day available?
Jeff: Oh no. You should really do it every day.
me: Ok... is there a way to do it other than clicking on every single week in every single month?
Jeff: no... sorry.
me: Truthfully, is there a prayer in hell that I am ever going to see two days open in the same month?
Jeff: not really. but if you had 50,000 miles there are lots of seats available.
me: Can I add the miles from another account (my mother's) to mine to get to 50,000?
Jeff: oh no.
Sweet.

Date: 2006-01-20 09:57 pm (UTC)Another option would be to start trying to find flights to airports that aren't too far away to drive - I'm thinking Savannah, Columbia, Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, Augusta, or Florence. US Airways apparently flies to all of those airports...

Date: 2006-01-20 10:41 pm (UTC)Hilton Head is closest of the places you named and it's harder to get to by air than Charleston. and then you have to battle traffic on tiny southern roads for 2 hours or more... and I called United about using those miles... they got no seats either in July or August. Who in their right fucking mind goes to coastal South Carolina in the dead of Summer by choice??!!! Holey crap.
s'ok. I'll buy a ticket, Mom will pay for it, and I'll deduct the amount out of my sister's third of the inheritance.
