My Roomba is acting up.  Kind of.  A little.  But maybe not.  A couple of times recently, it has balked at various points.  But, then, the next time, operated fine.  Today, it gave me a signal that something was wrong with the side brush.  Sure enough, it was all jammed up with lint.  I just removed it.  The side brush doesn't really do much on carpet so I just yanked it out.  Now, it's doing fine.  It has a year's replacement warranty so I'm keeping a close eye out.

The US Air frequent flyer program is really hilarious.  The program says that 25,000 miles will get you a round trip domestic flight... subject to availability.  I am pretty sure July is going to be dead for work stuff so I thought I'd just go see Mom.  July in South Carolina doesn't tickle my weather bone but, no time is good there, weather wise and they have air conditioning and there is no need to really be outside for any length of time.

Mom has 38,700 miles she is never going to use.  So I got onto the US Air site today and discovered that THE only options for 2006 - round trip using 25,000 miles is to leave on January 24 and return on August 8.  Seriously.  Those are the only two days that have the 25,000 frequent flyer seats available.  I called US Air to confirm.  Jeff told me that, indeed, it was true.

Jeff:  You should check back, though, because a lot of those are just courtesy holds that expire in 3 days.
me:  So every three days I should click on every single month to see if there is a day available?
Jeff:  Oh no. You should really do it every day.
me:  Ok... is there a way to do it other than clicking on every single week in every single month?
Jeff:  no... sorry.
me:  Truthfully, is there a prayer in hell that I am ever going to see two days open in the same month?
Jeff:  not really.  but if you had 50,000 miles there are lots of seats available.
me:  Can I add the miles from another account (my mother's) to mine to get to 50,000?
Jeff:  oh no.

Sweet.

I think I have landed a supplier for my teddy bear eyes and noses!!  I found a woman in Oregon who is checking out the possibility of being my facial feature supplier!  Remember all that stuffing I got when I bought one 10 pound box and got 3?  It was the first of November.  I am very nearly through the first of those three.  So...  10 pounds lasts about 3 months.  I'll need to order up again next July, probably.  If my new eyes/nose contact comes through, I'll soon have a 3 month supply of those in hour.  Oh that reminds me the Herrschner's current free shipping offer ends on January 31.  I mustn't forget to get my order in.

Ooops incoming work on the other computer... later...

don't forget that US Air is a Star Alliance member. Which means you might well be able to book a reward on a partner airline--like United--when US Air can't accomodate.

United fly to Charleston, no problem.

Another option would be to start trying to find flights to airports that aren't too far away to drive - I'm thinking Savannah, Columbia, Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, Augusta, or Florence. US Airways apparently flies to all of those airports...

Yuck, July? Oh well you get to see your mom, that is a good thing.

Hopefully we will be North of here and Inland this summer if when we get the motorhome.
