I have a huge hot water tank. I think the football team could tramp in for their post game shower and i wouldn't run out of hot water. The thing is 12 years old but it's been about 5 years since I last used it much at all. I shower at the gym. I wash/rinse my clothes in cold water. I don't use the dish washer.

I mean really, I'm a lightweight when it comes to hot water BUT... I have people who live below me and people who live below them and if my even-never-used hot water tank decides to spill, they are going to be in a world of hurt. So it's time to replace. Fortunately, the HOA found 6 of us in this pickle and is even doing the heavy lifting of installation/taking the old one. All I have to do is clean out the area around it in the closet and pay the bill. $1,458.83. Merry Christmas to me.

I got good sewing done and more started and also even walked... up the street and got yarn and a poke bowl for lunch which was so big, I now also have lunch for tomorrow. I do love my neighborhood so much.

I'm sick of this sweater. I have maybe 2 nights worth of work left to do on it and I cannot bring myself to do it so I'm taking a sweater break. I am almost done with a hat and tonight I'm going to start on a creature. I'll get back to the sweater in a few days. No sense in having my fun torture me. I am the boss of me, not that fucking sweater!

Pork chop for dinner and then some junk TV.

Are you getting an on-demand water heater to replace a tank model? Either way, something new and efficient will probably save energy.

I was going to suggest on demand too, but another possibility is a low pressure water heater. The water goes into them unpressurized (except for the pressure from the weight of the water itself), gets heated, and by some magic it's restored to pipe pressure for the rest of the hot side of the plumbing.
