I found Betty at a city shelter on June 1st 2002. She had had a litter of kittens and the shelter people figured she was about year old. So, that makes her about 5ish now in kitty years. But for the past few days she has been exploring her inner kittenhood.

The wall that separates the kitchen from the bedroom is only about 6 feet tall and my ceilings are 10 feet so there is a very fun gap up there to explore if you are Betty. And she's just found it. She hangs over the edge and peers into the closet. She paws up the post and stretches. She sits and watches. She is cracking me up.

Then she comes down and starts scampering everywhere. Twice in her years here she has gotten herself lost. Once she spent a day in a drawer until I found her and once she got out and down the hall and had clawed a neighbor's Sunday paper to death before I found her. So she has a bell on her collar (along with complete contact info). So if I can't see her scampering here and there I can hear her.

Jake appears to think that the whole business is just silly. But, then, he's still not so sure we need to keep her. I need to get a picture of her up on the wall but until then, this is still my favorite.

She's so cute.
How did she get stuck into a drawer?
When I was a little kid, I got my head stuck in a drawer. It's true.

Great pic of the two of them. Jake just looks amazed at her.

I remember when she was in the drawer. Took a while for you to find her if I rememeber correctly

vasilatos: neighborhod emergency response (big sam)

We got our girl Sammy the same way: at the shelter, she'd had a litter, they guessed she was about a year and a half old. We brought her home and gave her to the dog, Wiener, for company. Neither was interested in the slightest.

Very soon after that, Wiener had a huge accident (fell off a 3-story building) and had to go to the hospital. When we brought her home, I could just *see* Sam thinking, "hey you guys, you threw her off the roof, why are you bringing her home?" :-)

Betty looks like the coolest cat. I bet Jake thinks so too.
