Better... I think
Feb. 2nd, 2006 08:21 amI talked to Sarah at 'the home' this morning and then talked to Mom and I think maybe in a few weeks we will look back at this morning being the turning point. Turning to better.
Sarah listened well and responded appropriately. She didn't over promise. She acknowledged the issues. She said she had 3 pages of notes from Polly. She also said that she informed everyone under her yesterday that Polly is to be treated as a member of our family at my direction. I was pleased at the phone call. She's now got a couple of weeks to show me some improvement. I started with her specifically because she has a boss. I got no problem talking to him but I want to be smart about it. I honestly believe that this time it will not be necessary.
Mom sounded very good. We chatted about this and that - yes, Seattle is playing in the Superbowl and they are playing Pittsburgh but the whole thing is being played in Detroit and yes, it makes no sense. And, while our 4 TV news channels, 2 newspapers and way too many radio stations are fighting for the same non-story Superbowl stories here, there is a giant sized Oprah drama going on in Charleston. Apparently she is coming to visit and when the tickets went on sale they had all already been sold. I didn't get the details but it sounds like it's they have their own non-story drama going on.
Mainly Mom sounded focused - more than recently. I told her so and she said that she "feels better in my mind like I'm not confused any more". Good to hear and she said a couple of times that she was getting better really.
So, I'm hoping a lot of that bad stuff is behind us.
I watched last Sunday's Gray's Anatomy last night and one of the story lines was about an old woman dying with COPD (which is one of Mom's problems). The story line hit pretty darned close to home and kind of gave me a new appreciation for being able to hear about trivial stuff like Oprah tickets and her description of the moving van guys moving stuff into her neighbor's apartment.
I have lots of work work to do today and a conference call and I am still in bed. Betty is doing Morning Betty Kitten Impersonations. Jake is right here trying to go back to sleep but keeping one eye open to make sure her shenanigans don't involve him.
Ok enough of this ... time to make the donuts.
