The tax man

Today is the day they release the real estate tax amounts in this county. Last year my taxes on this condo were $3,819.44 for the year. This year they are $4,532.42. A small part of this is due to my condo's value going up this year but a much bigger part is a mass transit bounty that was voted in last year (by renters, she says maliciously and without proof). The vast majority of the benefit derived from those mass transit funds will not happen in my lifetime. So, Seattle, you are welcome. Grumble grumble grumble.

Today's walk will be up the hill to the drug store. It's a small one that rarely has what I want but the walk is good for my steps count. And they open at 6:30 am so no hanging around waiting.

It's supposed to get very cold this weekend. Sunday's high is predicted to be in the low 30's. Now if we could get some moisture in with that...

Time now to get off my ass, get dressed, hang up my wet swimsuit and hit the pavement. Steps, man. I'm all about the steps.

I have to tell you that I pop over to your Nest site once in a while and see what's going on. The other evening I got very engrossed in watching you knit and stuff a critter. It wasn't until about fifteen minutes later I realized that watching you that long was moving into creeper territory. :-) Really, though, it was better than TV.

Don't kid yourself, renters pay property taxes too, it's just hidden in the rent.

Oh trust me, I totally understand. What I glean from Reddit and Twitter and other sources is that the renters assumed that they got off scott free and so why not vote YES! And they did. And yes, they also scream about rising rents.
