Ben & Jerry, Meet me at Krispy Kreme!!!
May. 1st, 2018 10:19 amI just got my test results back... I'm good for another year. Nothing out of range and, particularly, glucose... it's highish but just under the bar. AND lower than last year! whohooo!!!!
I think I'm going to celebrate with a little Chunky Monkey.
But, really - a little Louis C.K. here - how amazing is it that I get the results of my tests less than 4 hours after taking them????? How amazing is it that I get my tests... in such detail! With last year and the year before that - 5 years worth - for comparison - right there for me to access any time I want. In my day, doctors gave you medical information in terms like "you're fine" or "is your husband with you" (while looking at my chart that clearly designated I was single).
The good old days were not. I love living in the future. Sugar me up, baby!!

Date: 2018-05-01 09:35 pm (UTC)When I was going through my mother's stuff after she died, I found an old prescription bottle she'd been using to store very small screws & such. It was from the 1960s, and was headache medicine for my father. All it said on the label was the doctor's name, my father's name, and that it should be taken for headaches--- no name of drug or dosage, no number he should take or frequency for taking it. Maybe they told him that stuff at the appt? I dunno. I doubt it.
I hope I come across that bottle again sometime. That was quite a find. Oh, I forgot to mention that it was glass.

Date: 2018-05-01 09:45 pm (UTC)I have a little glass prescription bottle from River Edge Pharmacy, River Edge, New Jersey. (phone number is ORADELL 8-1596 by the way)
It's for my Mom and dated 8/9/1950 which is a week before my sister was born. Dr. Sullivan (no first name or initial) and THE only other info on the bottle - the sum total of the detail is: "Take 1 morning and bedtime"!!!
So 9 months pregnant and she's taking godknowswhat. Maybe that's what made my sister such an entitled diva! hehehehe
This bottle has the glass alphabet beads that were used to make my id bracelet at the hospital when I was born. Tiny beads on the wrist of a new born baby.
It's a wonder any of us survived really.

Date: 2018-05-02 02:57 pm (UTC)A couple of years ago, our doctor's office had us getting the blood draw in advance of the physical, and then they stopped. Maybe he wants to look at and talk to me before deciding what tests to order, I dunno.
