LJ says that Zoey has thyroid issues so we're off to the vet today. I'm waiting for the house cleaner to get here and the rush hour traffic to clear. I'll probably go after I finish this entry. Also today is senior discount day at Goodwill so I'll probably go there, too. And that's it for plans for today. Oh wait, I need to return a book to the library but I can drop it off at that little branch near the Goodwill.

Every once in a while I think about how much time I spend in this condo. Never going anywhere. Just enjoying my home and think well, heck, I could do that anywhere. I could move to someplace I've never been before like Alaska. Or some place remote and cheap. As long as Amazon could get there and the internet connection was speedy, that's all I need.

And then I remember my Goodwill store, Uwajimaya, the Mariners Diamond games! The Seattle library. 13 Coins. And those are just the places I frequent often. There's having a wonderful vet who doesn't need appointments and is open 7 days a week. And having the wonders of Seattle available easily, always. Oh and my pool and back up pools if something happens to mine. Again. And that's the tip of the iceberg.

I always planned to move to downtown Chicago next. When I landed here, I expected to be here 18 months, maybe 2 years and then move to Chicago for a couple of years. But, Seattle sunk its teeth in to me and even though I feel like I spend all of my time inside here, I'm so glad that 'here' is in Seattle. Sorry Alaska and Chicago. I don't think you are going to make the cut after all.

Good decision. Besides, the Chicago heat'll kill ya.

Why do you suspect Zoey has thyroid issues? Symptoms?

Ha. Joe and I have taken 2 west coast road trips to see if there was a spot that we liked better than Seattle. Every place has it's merits - and I'm sure you've seen me incessantly bitching about the weather here - but no place beats this one. Every spring we fall right back in love with this expensive, traffic-logged, fiscally irresponsible town with crumbling infrastructure.

I will say that moving from Greenwood to West Seattle has made a world of difference - for now. The north end is soeffin crowded and claustrophobic. And yet we still go out there somewhat frequently, to visit. I'm sure that the masses are en route to my neck of the woods next - in fact, I know that they are - but, meh. We'll see how it goes. (I suppose there's always Portland? But they're not too far behind us, either.)

PS I hope Zoey is doing ok. When I read your entry about her demanding wet cat food I thought maybe dehydration / kidney issues. Good wishes for kitty, though.

OMG 13 Coins. I forgot about them today. I ended up eating a breakfast salad at Cherry Street cafe. Oh well, I did probably save $15.

You found a place that you like and you stuck with it. I approve. (54 years and counting in Cambridge [apart from a three-year aberration into Boston].)
