Gadgets are good
Feb. 19th, 2006 12:52 pmI went out to run a little errand and on the way back home, my cellphone rang and it was Mom. I pulled over into a parking lot and we had a nice chat.
As I'm talking to her about nothing, I'm thinking, thankgod for my cellphone. There is precious little she can do these days except sit and nap and dial the phone. It takes her a while to even get up the energy to dial the phone and breathe enough to talk. I could have stayed home just in case. Or I could have missed her call.
Instead we had a nice chat and for all she knew I was sitting in my chaise. She sounded a little better but not much. She said Polly was worried and was going to talk to the doctor. There is not a thing I can do to make her physical health better and her mental health is good. She's connected. She's watching the news. She knew we had wind and my brother had ice. She's hangin in.
And I'm back home - successful errands and now I'm getting ready to watch my Sunday treat - CBS Sunday Morning.
