In the winter, my house is heated by the condos upstairs, either side of me and the common area out my front door. However, it works the same in summer, when I'd really rather it didn't. Right now the outside thermometer says 62 while the air conditioner is working hard to cool down the inside to 74. Geesh. Opening the door to the outside while I'm trying to cool the inside down seems a bit counter intuitive but also the smart move to give the AC unit some help. Open? shut? open? shut?

Regardless, I'm thinking it's going to be an indoor day here. I'm getting close to some thoughts about a minor rearrangement of the living room to make the space seem more spacious. Also there needs to be some serious decluttering. And I have a pattern half put together on the kitchen counter. I need to get it all put together and into the sewing room.

I don't have anything that needs to be done outside the house except for maybe a walk if it stays cloudy like this. But, I can see blowing that off although a poke bowl for lunch does sound like a good idea... Cleary now I'm just killing time for no good reason. I need to get off my ass and do something. Anything. Probably getting dressed would be an excellent start.

It would seem easy to open the windows and let some cool air in ,but doesn’t always work that way
,any windows in the bedroom? To get a cross breeze??

I would definitely open the door. I hate A/C so I only use it as a last resort if opening doors/windows doesn't cool it enough.

Btw, we had the same situation with the neighbors' apartments insulating ours when we lived in Boston. We were on the 4th floor of a 6 floor building, and we had radiators for heat but I honestly can't ever remember turning them on. Our apartment was SO WARM from the other apartments in winter that we sometimes had to open the windows even when it was in the teens outside, just to keep the inside temp reasonable.

Conversely, in summer it sweltered. Usually hotter than outside, and Boston gets hot. Luckily we had a pool (not particularly common in the city) so I'd run down there and take a quick dip to cool off. But ugh. At least we had a window A/C in our bedroom so we could manage to sleep ok.

It's a concrete and/or masonry building isn't it? That's like living a giant heat sink. I knew a couple of people who lived in old brick apartment buildings in Los Angeles, and those places were just godawful in summer, and pretty bad some days even in milder seasons, since L.A. is so warm so much of the time anyway.
