AUGH! you should have asked about the fridgie...I would wholeheartedly not recommend a side by side fridge. My recommendation is the kind with a pull out freezer on the bottom and 2 side by side doors for the fridge on top.
Here's my reasoning - I've lived with a fridge just like yours (except mine has a water/ice dispenser in the door) and while you think there should be tons of space, having it cut in 1/3rd, 2/3rd widths is annoying. A friend has the 2 side by side on top and freezer drawer pull gives you much more room.
Now I know you'll say I don't buy that much so why do I need such a big fridge. To which I'll respond EXACTLY - do you really need that much room? Why not look into the drawer fridge and freezers that get put into the cabinets and look like wide cabinet drawers? But as a selling point I'd say that the double side by side top and a freezer drawer is much more useable than a side by side stainless steel.
Of course that's my opnion - feel free to findme online and chat me if you want more info :).
I hear you... And I appreciate your speaking up. I have actually had all the types - overhead door freezer, bottom drawer freezer and side by side and none are perfect. I know. I really do hate the bottom drawer freezers. Really I do. The top door ones I hate a little less than the bottom drawer and the side by side, I hate least of all - that's how I got there.
I bet you're much taller than I am :) - the top freezer I hate because I'm not even 5'1" and I've had a turkey fall out and try to take my foot out! But I'm very glad to hear you thought it totally through and that you appreciate my feedback even if it differs with your opinion. I always love hearing what you're doing with your different remodel and other projects.
By the way I lovelovelovelovelovelovelovelove your dishwasher. I wish I'd thought to get something like that 2 years ago when I went with the stainless steel flat front that I got from sears. I like that one too but it'd be nice to just have the ability to do one small load in one drawer. On the other hand mine does have the Smart Wash which senses how many dishes are being washed and does do energy effiency....
But yours looks wicked cool :) (as they say in Bahstun).
Yeah, I'm most jazzed about the dishwasher. Years ago my friend, Scott, from New Zealand told me about it when a Kiwi company first inveneted it. I thought the idea was perfect for me then it's just taken me for freakin' ever to get one!
I like a "kiss" fridge. The simpler the better. Had the fancy ice in the door side by side, hated it. Got a simple one with an icemaker that fits in the space. Fine with me. As long as it freezes, I am happy. Actually, I have two simple ones. One we keep drinks in. Just because it came with the house. It also keeps my birdseed that I freeze to kill anything in the seed when I store it.
That is an elegant looking fridge... but I gotta say I am still hooked on my gimmicky Maytag Wide-by-sideM (http://www.maytag.com/mths/products/productdemo.jsp?txtModelNumber=MZD2667HEW&txtImageId=100&cs=4&BV_UseBVCookie=No&BV_SessionID=@@@@0295190373.1140507728@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccfaddglfkgfgicfjnceifdffldgfg.0) fridge (currently gathering dust in my empty home back in the states).
I had two different homebuying friends fall in love with the concept after oohing and ahhing over mine and buy the same for themselves...
