I did end up going to Grocery Outlet where yet another checker impressed me so much. It is indeed a gift when you leave a grocery store with hope for humanity! I came home and looked up the store owners and sent them an email.

I put on my LGBT Ally t-shirt this morning and as soon as I got in the sun, I saw that there was a giant grease stain on the front of it plus some small stains. And it was clean meaning I had 'set' the stains already. Damn! I took it off and gave it a giant spray of Zout which I let set for about 30 minutes and then washed it in hot water with my fingers crossed. I just pulled it out of the dryer and the stains are gone!!! Yeah Zout. Thank you!

I spent the day just doing this and that and not too much of either but it was really a nice day. Inside. With the air conditioner going. Tomorrow is supposed to be 10 degrees cooler and that will be welcome. I had a delicious Stouffer's dinner for dinner. Such a treat when it's too hot to even get creative about dinner much less cook it. They are tasty and easy to prepare and easier to clean up. And I have ice box pie for dessert. Thank you, Grocery Outlet!!

Oh and while I was there, I tried to find tea for iced tea. They didn't have much of a selection but they did have lemon zinger. It was cheap so I figured if it sucked I'd give it away. It does NOT suck! It makes delicious iced tea. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to go back and get more.

The baseball game starts in a little bit. I'm ready.

Off topic: I believe you are my friend who watches the Great British Baking Challenge? If so, I have started watching it and I think I can dig reality TV like this :) So much more normal drama rather than over drama. Of course, now I feel like baking something and that's dangerous. I can't bake for shit ;)

I was looking at espn.com's "expanded standings" yesterday, and spotted a couple of things that might interest you (or that you probably know already, since they're the kind of things broadcasters would mention frequently):

1) The Mariners are 26-11 in one-run games. That's astonishing not just because they've been so good in such games, but for the sheer number of such. (The Rays have also played 37 one-run games, with much less success.)

2) Not altogether coincidentally, the Mariners are 8-0 in extra innings. They are the only team in the majors not to have lost an extra-inning game.

(Last year the Red Sox played an exceptionally large number of extra-inning games, and won almost all of them. This year so far they're 3-3.)

Yeah -- "We have a problem: Houston."

Another stat ESPN provides -- and I suspect it's not as interesting as they think it is -- is "Expected W-L", which is the predicted won-lost record based on a complicated formula involving runs for and against. As a general thing, most teams' actual records are within 3 or 4 games of the "expectation", but there are always a few outliers. At the moment the most significant outliers are the Mariners, whose record is way over the expectation, and the Astros, whose record is way under. If the teams had performed the way the formula predicts, the Astros would be 17½ games ahead (and would have the best record in the majors by far).

I guess the Mariners have been making more efficient use of their runs than the Astros.
