Mistake but not really

susandennisI got to a stopping place in my day and sat down for a bit of internetting. When that was done, I decided 'how hot could it really be? it's almost chilly in here and if I stay in the shade...'
Now I know the definitive answer to that question. The exact temperature outside right now is... Way Too Fucking Hot. But, my learning that first hand makes staying in a lot more palatable and makes me love my air conditioner even more than I did.
I thought that I was going to be able to skate by without buying a new phone this year. And I was hoping that Google would also pass on the chromebook train this year. Silly me. It's looking like the Pixel 3 phone is going to have a headphone jack. Lord, how I miss my headphone jack. I've really tried hard to do without and failed miserably. And just now I see where the strong rumors are that there will be new new chromebooks from Google. Sigh. Oh well. I do love me new hardware.
I did my sewing chores today. I gave both machines a thorough cleaning. My serger is easy to clean and so I do that one often but my sewing machine requires unscrewing screws that hold a plate down and then removing other parts and then putting it all back together. So I'm not as good about getting to that one. But neither was really as bad as I thought and both are now all clean.
Then I covered an ugly pillow that I've been using in the living room and mended some pants and fitted up a pillow case so that it fits my bed pillow the way I want. And tidied up the place. Nice.
I have two hours before the baseball game, I think I'll do some crochet and watch the next Vera episode.

I’m starting a PhD program this fall and I need something more portable than my laptop that I can use to read assignments and stuff on my lunch at work. I really want it to work on a wireless network but iPads are insanely expensive.
