THE Test Coat

Done! And I am so delighted.



This is the bit that I conquered in the pool this morning. I wanted that flannel to show on the pocket but the back side of that flannel is butt ugly. It's not like a shirt where you never see the innards.



So, I camouflaged it!!



Here's the base info I used from a German (I think) website.





The hardest part (outside of not being able to read some of the numbers) was translating CM to inches and then doing all the math. But, I kept copious notes. So I am good to go on The Real Coat.

I just read that the new cured meat place (the one that moved from too far to just the right amount of close) has a grab and go bin. I think I'm going to put on the new coat and go grab and then go go. hahahaha

I love it! The trim is perfect. It's good that you keep calling it the Test Coat though, so it doesn't get a big head about how great it is.

The coat looks really good! Hard to believe it is a test coat.

I totally get the trance of solving pattern problems. I'm knitting a top down cardigan. I like the pattern, but the gauge needed to be adapted for the handspun I am using. I'm also putting in pockets (because everyone needs pockets!), and figuring out how to do that...

YES. I do find that the results can be so much more satisfying.

I've never knitted with handspun yarn. I'd love to see a picture of your project even in process.

And yes, pockets should be the law.

The coat turned out really nicely. Would have been a shame to throw it away.

The coat looks good, but I have to comment on that pattern. That's an awesome pattern. I don't know anything about sewing beyond what we did in home ec class as tots, but that's a pattern I can immediately understand. It looks like an IKEA manual. Those huge things with see-through paper and a million overlapping lines that tear as soon as you pin them to fabric intimidate me.

I refuse to use those tissue paper patterns any more. Life is too short. Mostly I download PDF's and paste the pages together to get one giant pattern on a decent weight of paper.

BUT this, this was so much better and so fun to conquer. And the fit is perfect. It hangs like it is contoured to me but there is no contour at all.

And the concept is so adaptable. This may be all my clothes from now on!
