A long time ago, I forgot what year I was married and what year I was divorced. And I'd long ago lost any and all paperwork in various moves. I never really needed the info but good thing, because I had no way to get it. My ex-husband has even now died so there goes that option. Until today!!

Right there, in my mother's handwriting, are the details in the genealogy stuff! Thanks, Mom.

I was married on Nov. 4, 1979. And divorced Feb. 2, 1984. But we split up on New Years Day the year before. So really only married for 1980-82. Plenty of time, actually - way more marriage than I needed.

Also... I found one of my father's Christmas Chronicles. He hated the traditional family Christmas newsletters so he just went way too far the other side.

This was the 1971 edition:

christmaschronicle-1

christmaschronicle-2

christmaschronicle-3

christmaschronicle-4

In today's lingo, that would be called "extra" haha. Too cool.

The newsletter is awesome. I can see where you get your writing skill from.

That newsletter is so hilarious! I love your article. And I'll be able to remember your divorce date for you going forwards, since it is conveniently the day after my birthday. ;)

OMG -- that was SO MUCH FUN to read! Your father was a clever writer.

When I got my driver's license, I used to complain that I was the 4th driver on a one car family, and it was a testament to both my patience and determination for when *I* got to use the car!

Thank Heaven for the ability to get a divorce relatively easily these days. I cannot imagine remaining married for a lifetime to someone I truly came to dislike and finally hate the way so many people in our parents' and grandparents' generations did.
I'm glad you were able to escape and have a second chance at finding your happiness.
:^)

I loved your father's version of the annual Christmas letter. I would actually read any of his letters (unlike the ones we got from other family members, which just headed for the circular file without even unfolding).

I loathe the usual Christmas chronicles and always bin them unread. But your dad's one was sheer genius and a hoot to read. Though I imagine if it was my father writing about me, I'd want to kill him :-)
