I have to say that I got way more than my $4 out of this little endeavor. It turned out to be pretty freakin' cool. I had a bit of an issue getting the lighting right. It won't work if it can't see all the dots but it tells you to back up, come forward, move left, etc. Until it sees everything. Then you stand and pivot when it tells you and after 11 pivots you are done and you can get the results.

Measuring your ownself is doable. It's just a big old PIA. This is easy and fun. Now... it's not perfect. My right ankle is way smaller than my left. But, hey, my socks accommodate and that's all I sew that needs ankle measurements.

Wow. The differences in inseam is interesting—that’s not an asymmetry I’ve measured and would be useful to know when sewing pants. Actually, all the asymmetries are interesting. That’s a very useful bit of detail.

Your last post on this got me all excited, so I went to Zozo.com to see what clothing they offered, that one might have customized with all of this level of detail. My husband walked in while I was looking at the site, and I must have had some extreme look of disgust on my face because he thought something horrible had happened in the world. I was like “no, no...it’s just that all this fashion technology is being totally wasted on blue jeans, white tee shirts, and striped shirts, like a French mime would wear.”

I do think the inseam thing may have been how I was standing.

It did surprise me to see more than an inch difference.

Well, that is neat! I'm tempted to do this just to track body measurements over time.

I wish the clothing they offered wasn't so dull...but otherwise, it's such a fantastic idea!

Very interesting about your different inseam lengths. Maybe mine are different also and that's why I can never seem to get pants exactly the same length. Maybe I do get them right but they just don't look the same on me.

I already know that one of my feet is longer and narrower than the other.

This reminded me of a rude limerick I once heard:

Could it be that my eye grows defective,
Or that this is a vision subjective?
Has your west tit the least bit
The best of your east tit,
Or is this some trick of perspective?

I wonder how the suit would handle that situation?

For no reason other than the strange behavior of my ragbag of a memory, I retain a version of this limerick from a very-long-ago Playboy magazine (don't ask), but in my version the first two lines are: "To his bride said the lynx-eyed detective, / 'Can it be that my eyesight's defective?'"

One of the things I enjoy about limericks is that so many of them have variant versions. They are like folk songs, but without the murders and suicides. Thinking back I'm pretty sure the version I have of this one came from a thin booklet called "Forbidden Limericks" which I bought at the City Lights bookshop in San Francisco many decades ago. I lost track of the book when I moved from Southern California in 1986, but a few of the verses have stuck in the recesses of my memory and will pop up now and then, often at inappropriate times.

Did you take the photos in this suit in your living room? Because that would have been entertaining for anyone watching your webcam.
