I spent a giant chunk of my life in the south, so too hot especially since most of those years were before air conditioning was ubiquitous. I never got hot flashes when I went through menopause. I just got warm all over and never cooled off. For ever I have said that I cannot wait to be the kind of old lady who never gets warm.

Could be that I'm getting there!

I left home this morning headed for Costco but the more I thought about that walk across the parking lot, the more I though Fuck Noooo! it's too damn cold! I popped, instead, into Grocery Outlet and stocked up for the storm.

It feels really cold in this house. The thermometer says it's 66 so it actually is kind of cold. I could turn the heat on but I'm not quite there yet. I could also get up off my ass and move but I'm absolutely not there!

Two years ago at the gym one morning, I came back to the locker room from the pool to discover that my purse and brand new phone had been stolen out of my locked locker. A few days later, I saw on TV that woman had her car keys stolen out of her locked locker, same gym, and her BMW stolen out of the parking garage.

Well, it happened again. Last night between 7 and 9, a woman was in LA Fitness working out when her locker was broken into and the thief made off with her stuff and then her Lexus.

Since my rip off, I no longer leave anything in one of those lockers that I cannot live without. I do not take a purse into the gym with me. I keep my phone and keys in my swim bag and take it with me to the pool where I hang it up along the pool side where I can see it at all times.

I love that pool (except when the heater is broken or the chemicals are fucked up) but that gym is just a mess of problems.

I got a good start on my tiny project. And I'm way happier with the organization. I also have better glue. And since it's tidier, I am ok with doing a little at a time and not rushing so I can get it all put away. Progress.

More and more Seattle weather people are hoping on the snow bandwagon. Apparently, there's gonna be a lot of it starting on Friday. I'm actually kind of sad. The only person I know who loves the snow like I do is [livejournal.com profile] ljtourist and he's leaving Friday for a week in the Bahamas. I know he'll have fun but it must be killing him to miss what could be our biggest snow in a couple of decades. I just read a tweet quoting some source saying the downtown area (where we both live) could get 18-22 inches. I'll just have to enjoy it for the both of us.

When I was casting about for something to do I noticed those tiny house things you’re into. Hadn’t realized the scale of them was quite that large. Still cool looking though.

The temperature thing is interesting. I live in a city that's incredibly temperate and all I do is long for snow and ice. I went to Antarctica last year and I'm going to Greenland next year in pursuit of lovely cold. (However, I know it's a lot harder to live with than to visit.) You may have a bit of a wait to be a correctly cold old lady - my mother is eighty and she's only got there in the last couple of years. And she's thin which must make her colder.

What a pain when people go around stealing things especially when you've locked them up. I avoid those lockers as well and keep stuff in sight at all times. I've even stopped taking a purse or wallet with me shopping as there are so many cases of fit young men snatching bags from older women. I pay by card (Sweden is as good as cashless these days) and that card is kept in a zipped, inner pocket that is not reachable for pickpockets. I hate having to do this as I have some lovely purses, but at the same time I know I'm in the target age for being a victim.

I can't wait to see your newest project - it looks a beautiful and rustic room.

It happens, becoming cold all the time. I once was always hot, no longer.  But I also became much thinner which might have created the change. I am somewhat sorry for not understanding my always cold daughters.

For years I have noted that [livejournal.com profile] jwg has felt the cold significantly more than me, but more recently I've noticed that I often feel chilly when the thermostat says it's 69F in the house, which ought to be plenty warm enough. I guess I'm finally getting old too.

18-22 inches in Seattle? That's just terrifying.

I hesitate to mention it, but metropolitan Boston has gotten next to no snow so far this winter, which is nice for those of us who would rather not shovel it, but combined with the wildly fluctuating temperatures it's not good for my perennials.

Also it makes me worry that major snowstorms will start hitting over the next month or so when we have several different sets of travel plans.
