Yep. It was all the crap out screaming 'do me!!!' I cleaned it all up and then some. I had stuff in covered baskets and I even put some of those away. I used my new dining room chairs/hassocks. Sewing stuff (I cut out fabric on the kitchen counter so have all the cutting out stuff I need in a basket) in one and knitting stuff in the other. T I D Y

I also cleaned up the terrace which is very dusty right now and this led to a massive coughing fit. But one pill and one inhaler later, I'm good.

The tiny stuff is organized onto a big tray that fits perfectly on the closet shelf.

The crochet pieces are drying now and will be ready to finish putting together today and so that mess will be gone. Yes. Much better.

While I'm waiting for the yarn to dry, I think I will make that Hobby Lobby trip. My first through the new downtown tunnel.

Do you wash (or just dampen) and then pin your crochet pieces on a board or something like that to dry before you sew or crochet them together? Is that what you are writing about? I notice that mine from the Persian Tiles pattern are pretty uneven. I've read to do that but never done it yet to anything - just lived with the unevenness. I've wondered if it's worth it to do it.

I spread out the pieces on a towel on the counter and spritzed them liberally with water and then turned them upside down and straightened them out with my hands. I made them flat and pulled the points so they were pointy. And then I let them dry.



The joining of them is going way better than I expected. I think, once I get all the pieces together, I might repeat the spritzing at the join lines. And then again once I'm done with the border. That's what I'm thinking now.

Also, important to this process is that the yarn I'm using is 100% acrylic. If yours has any cotton or wool or linen in it, this process might not work as well.

Thanks for the tips. My yarn is 100% acrylic too. That sounds much easier (laying them on a towel) than pinning things to a board.

It takes a bit of fiddling with them - hand shaping - but I think it's worth the effort. And yeah, that pinning stuff is for the birds :)
