Mom had a $70,000 annuity with IDS that was invested in all the wrong things. And the IDS guy that was assigned to her is an asshole. Daddy didn't like him that much but never did anything about him. When Daddy died, he moved in like a maggot trying to get his hands on more investment money.

I let it go for a while but when he kept pestering Mom, I got rid of him. I found a new annuity and a new guy and rolled the sucker over. And sent a nice letter to the head of IDS explaining exactly why and dropping the name of Mom's lawyer as someone the asshole will be chatting with if he ever tries to contact my Mom again.

Mom was so relieved and so thankful. But, she got it into her little stoke affected brain that she now had $70,000 in play money. This all happened last May and I explained it all to her then - in person and in email. She can't touch the money for 5 years without a tax penalty and she doesn't need it anyway. But, every few months she totally forgets and tells me about her $70,000.

Tonight she's decided that she wants to give me and my brother and I money for Christmas. Big money. Mainly this is because my sister and her husband are in England and if they had some extra cash they could have more fun at Christmas - go see stuff, etc. They are only there for this year and Mom wants them to get the most out of it. So she wants to give them $2-3,000. But, she and Daddy long ago carved a law about equality. If one gets something all three of us do.

So tonight's note was how she was going to take some of that $70,000 and give it to us for Christmas. And I had to tell her - yet, again - why she wasn't going to do that.

She has other money she can use. Why she's so fixated on this fucking $70,000 I'll never know. But, it's getting pretty funny.
