Polly just called to say that Mom has calmed down - thanks to the whatever they gave her and is now not nearly as frantic as she was.

But she also told me that Barry went to visit Mom! Barry was hired just last October as an assistant to the director of the assisted living section. He's a great guy with a huge smile. He's always been very reachable by phone and very helpful and very willing to communicate with me via email, too.

In one of his recent emails he told me that he parks near her window every day and she's there waving to him in the morning and waving to him when he goes home at night and that just makes his day.

But, seriously, to take time out of his personal time to go see Mom. That's just too special. Polly said that the ICU nurse told her he must be someone very special cause Mom just held his hand and smiled big the whole time he was there.

What a wonderfully sweet thing for him to do.

Yep. You'd have to have surgery to remove Polly at this point. It was a lucky day when I asked the head of 'the home' "do you happen to know anyone who..." and she handed me a card and said "well, you know Polly's Mom lived here and died recently and she just started up this business..." yep. Lucky indeed for all of us.

My daughter doesn't quite understand the tears that she's seeing. She's given me a hug and I really wish that I could share that hug with you and with your mom.

We've been here before, and my bet is she's gonna pull through again. Just not as much as last time, like every time it is less. However, something worth examining is what it is about your mother that has inspired such devotion in so many people.
