And now the fun really begins
Mar. 18th, 2006 12:43 pmNote from my brother that he's there and the obit my sister wrote has too many run on sentences and is way too long. He's right - what she wrote up is godawful. I wrote him back and said I really didn't care and yeah but that since none of us are ever going to be in that town again, it was a nothingberger as far as I was concerned. But, if he felt strongly, let me know and I'll tell Nancy that I changed my mind and do a real edit.
I should care. I read obits and death notices carefully and make harsh value judgments about language and things the family chooses to write about. But, the Mom I remember is different that the one my sister does and probably my brother, too.
I have not yet gotten a hold of my cousin. I keep getting his answering machine. I hate to leave a message - I guess I'll just keep trying. It's not like he's going to find out from anyone or anywhere else. No one speaks to him but me. He's the only son of Daddy's sister. His folks died years ago and he keeps in touch with no one. I'll keep trying.
I went over to Chinatown where the post office is open on Saturday and mailed the tax returns that Jake threw up on and the notarized cremation permission. The I stopped into the Japanese grocery and got milk.
I just remembered that I do have one work work thing that really needs to be done this weekend. I think I might save it for tomorrow. Tomorrow is a big day for me. One of the biggest draws about this new job is the joy of working at home with the baseball game on TV. I know, I'm nuts but I can get more work done during 9 innings than any other time anywhere. Tomorrow is the first TV broadcast of the season - a spring training game - on TV at noon. Nice.
