In addition to new appliances, three of my cupboards are getting a makeover. I have two of these. See way back in there? Totally wasted space. I can't even reach some of it. And the rest involves getting on my hands and knees and reaching. It's not a pretty picture. So. John the Handyman is going to install lazy susan (snicker) shelves that will be attached to the door so when you open door the shelves will rotate out. Heaven!

This afternoon I emptied this one and it's twin on the other side of the sink. I found a spring form pan. What in the fuck did I have a spring form pan for???? I found a giant electric wok and a giant electric frying thing and a sandwich griller and a shitload of rusty stuff. On the other side, I found a bazillion sour cream (cream cheese/cottage cheese) containers and jars and three different cheese graters plus a buttload of other crap. One load went down to the dumpsters. I have a bunch of stuff for the Goodwill. It appears that maybe... just maybe... I might have enough room so that I do not have to use the oven for storage!

I have a cupboard similar to yours but from the early seventies. It's dark and I don't want to stick my hand in there to pull anything out. It's the place where stuff went when I knew that I should throw it out but didn't have the heart to do so. If/when I remodel my kitchen fixing that layout is a top priority. Love the Betty behind the t.p. picture, by the way.

I am leaving a house with one of those cupboard dungeons in the kitchen. Ours too was the home of unloved small appliances and the ubiquitous plastic containers.

You would be shocked at some of the things professional packers find in the back of cupboards. I've found dirty underwear, marijuana and all sorts of ucky things.

Oh my gosh, now I know where that name came from! Thanks.

And to think, I know *the* Susan of lazy susan fame!
