Monday Monday...
Mar. 27th, 2006 07:55 amYesterday when I gave up on the laptop, I sent a note to the boss with the screen shot errors and a description of the problem and asked him if he had any suggestions for how to fix. Generally he checks email all weekend but I did not hear from him. This morning I got a note from him at 5:30 chastising me for not calling. I'm so glad I didn't. He's a very family man with three small children and if he wanted a day off, I'm glad I didn't screw it up. Plus, I'm grateful for all of the non work stuff I got done because I couldn't do work. So it's all good. He's meeting me at the office just after 9. I'm showered and dressed and ready to go.

I ordered a flex skin cover for my Treo from BoxWave. Their color choices kind of sucked and I don't care so I thought maybe pink would be fun and that's what I ordered. Saturday, I got a package from BoxWave - two hard shell aluminum cases. Ooops. The paperwork reflected my pink one but the goods sure didn't. They will make it right, I'm sure but all weekend I've had lovely giggles about the macho geek dude who opened up his package looking for macho hard shell cases and got what is really more like a pink Treo condom. I sent email but no answer yet.

I wonder why there isn't more magazine subscription fraud or is there and I just haven't heard of it? Mom had a subscription to Time magazine. Using the label off one of her issues, I just had the address changed to mine. No challenges at all. What would stop you from picking up a magazine out of the doctor's office, and just getting the address changed to yours?
She also had a subscription to TV Guide. Now, I have - over the past few months - had several occasions to actually call the subscription department at TV Guide and I have to say, those people are on top of things. They have a fast computer system, apparently, and really nice people and this morning, she was happy to slap the rest of Mom's subscription onto the back of mine.
I guess I'm just used to having to fork over DNA to phone people to just even get a simple question answered. Now I've gone completely over to the dark side, when some outfit does not ask for my account number and last four digits of my social security number I immediately switch to 'how easy it would be to rip these people off.' That's so not good.

The boss won't be at the office until after 9... Goodwill drop off opens at 8. I have a car full. I think I'm seeing a plan here...

Date: 2006-03-28 10:52 pm (UTC)Korea holds lots of surprises like that. When I have been caught out without enough cash on me (many stores do not take credit cards here), the proprietors of the store or restaurant will just say, come back tomorrow to pay... I even have a foreigner friend who went to buy a car here, and after they selected a car they explained that the money was being weired here, and they would come back to get the car and pay in about 48 hours. The car dealership pretty much forced them to go ahead, and take the car now, and come back to pay when the money arrived. Madness I say! ...but it is kinda nice to almost always be given the benefit of the doubt. I think it may be a bit different in the metropolises of Seoul or Busan, though.
