I'm finishing up coffee. The Smalls is protecting his tunnel. Biggie is trying out all the toys in the toy bin - one by one. It's Saturday.

I do not use my dishwasher. Well, that's not true. My dishwasher is where I keep plastic bags, wax paper, plastic wrap, tin foil, stuff like that. The two racks are really quite suited to that. I wash my dishes by hand. It's just easier. It would take me days to fill up the dishwasher and by then, I'd be out of dishes to eat on. Plus, I hate emptying the dishwasher. So several years ago, I started just washing dishes by hand several times a day. It's a way better system for me.

But, I keep dishwasher soap on hand. There is nothing better for soaking off stuff. I burned marinade in a glass dish the other day and nothing - not soap, not scraping, not soaking, not chiseling would get the damn stuff loose. Until I remembered the dishwasher soap. I chiseled off a chunk (after years, that stuff hardens) and let it soak over the burned crust and in less than 15 minutes that stuff just floated off entirely. The problem now is replacement. I've only got a little left. The smallest box they sell would last me 100 years. Maybe what I have left will last.

This house has gotten messy-ish again. So that's toda's first chore. Tidy up everything as if I had company coming over. It's not terrible so won't take long. I think I can squeak by another no grocery store day. Tomorrow, I'll go swimming at 8 and then stop at Safeway on the way home.

I see no reason to go anywhere today and I have plenty to keep me entertained here.

I just discovered that one of my four shades has lost it's ability to phone home. This happens every time I forget what the fix is. I'll figure it out today and remember it until 5 minutes before a shade fails again. Home tech is not for the faint of heart.

Time now to get up and get to work so I can spend the rest of the day on my butt.

The Smalls has a hilarious way of protecting his tunnel, that made me laugh. lol

I didn't have a dishwasher for the four years I lived in my last place, I'm thoroughly enjoying having one again. There are times when I wash them by hand, if I only use one or two things, but for the most part I'm happy to load it up and let the machine do the work. I seem to cook and bake enough to fill it every couple of days. I love your idea for using it for storage though. I should ask David if he does that, he hates dishwashers but his house came with one.

We only use our dishwasher when we have company; i.e. not very often. We just rinse and reuse the same dishes over and over. Not doing much cooking makes it easy.

Non tech home problems languish at my house when I don't know how to remedy them so I know that the tech stuff would take me forever to fix. It will probably take me a long time to even try to set up smart light bulbs let alone move beyond that.

Remember that tub/ shower in my upstairs bath that I've never used? When I was selling stuff on daBay, I stored all my shipping boxes in that tub. :-)

We've never had a dishwasher -- mostly a space issue -- and have gotten quite used to waling dishes by hand. In looking into the possibility (a few years hence) of moving to a retirement community, we've noticed that all the apartments come with dishwashers. I could probably get used to the idea.
