I got batteries and then proceeded to kill 5 hours trying to get these fucking shades to work right. I am so frustrated. 50 new batteries (each of the 4 shades takes 12 each and the remote takes 2). Turns out I think part of the problem was actually weak batteries. But most of the problem is 2025 technology with 2005 hardware and software. I finally got 2 out of the 4 working some of the time. And that's it for today. I'm over it. I'll get back to it tomorrow or Monday.

Meanwhile The Smalls is fine. He and Biggie had a NASCAR Saturday and even managed to knock one of the sofa boulders off and those things are ridiculously difficult to move at all.

Plus, the new toy bin is now the new cat bed...



I think we have a new dictionary example of the term 'Losing situation'.

I've now had a little lunch... a half of peanut butter/mayo sandwich - my comfort lunch - with the last small handful of chips.

Now I'm going to pick up the toys... again... clean up the kitchen and then sit down for some quality time with the TV and my knitting needles.

You crack me up. If anything I owned were to take more than two batteries, I would get rid of it (that’s assuming it somehow made it into my house). I barely have the patience to change the batteries in my smoke alarms.

ha! my smoke alarm is wired into the condo's system. no batteries... otherwise, tho, yeah, I'm a battery queen. the remote took two button batteries and I even had the exact right ones on hand in my ... battery drawer!!

OMG a battery drawer? I have a few rechargeables in the drawer with the charger, a hammer, my aluminium foil, and wind-up flashlight for emergencies (my emergency radio also runs on solar or with a wind-up).

simple and delish. just one of the sandwich rotations at my house growing up. another fav was grilled peanut butter. just like grilled cheese but with peanut butter. yum

Everybody here is big on that natural stuff that has oil on the top that you have to stir in. Me? gimme Skippy or Jif any day. If I were in your shoes, I would not hesitate one second to pay too much if Amazon would bring me either of those. I totally get it.

So, a delayed response, but I've been wondering.... with grilled peanut butter, how do you keep the peanut butter from just running out the side when it melts? Do you use crunchy instead?

I don't spread it to the edges and only keep it thick in the middle. Crunchy works fine, btw.

I think I know the answer: If you want to create a cat bed your cats will love, put cat toys in it. Once the cat toys are removed and put elsewhere, the bed will then be rejected.

A woman came in to my shop today wearing head to toe Seahawks gear. Apparently, they’re playing the Eagles tomorrow. It made me smile to see her, I imagined she has the same season tickets and gets the same deluxe swag bag that you get.

I’m sure she was like “I don’t know why everyone is so nice around here” but I kinda felt like she was a proxy for you and I really wanted her to have a good time. So: some retired woman from Seattle today got your welcome, and some excellent customer service on your behalf.

What type of shades are you referring to?

Automated window shades. I have 4 windows and a sliding glass door so 4 shades. They are controlled by remote control or by my phone or by Alexa.

Here's what they look like when I say "Alexa, turn on sun" - the sun comes in just through here into my eyes so I like it blocked.



When the sun moves, I can say "Alexa, turn on all up" and it will raise all the shades to the top.

Fancy and really wonderful. They are also insulated so when it gets really cold or really hot, I can lower them all to make it more comfortable.
