So last night's pizza sucked. Tonight I ordered Thai from a place that just joined DoorDash. It was 10 times better than last night's was bad. It was still very hot and fresh and the crispy stuff was crispy and it was heaven. And there is plenty for dinner tomorrow. SCORE!

For some strange reason I have recently gotten a bunch of Live Journal friend requests. I'm puzzled and thrilled. WELCOME!!!!

One good thing this whole virus thing has spawned is exceedingly decent news reporting - especially TV. We have, locally here in Seattle news rooms/teams from NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox affiliates. The one that has the most local news by far is Fox so that's the one I watch. They have a couple of exceedingly exceptional reporters. One of them tonight had this great piece showing the statistics on how this virus would spread in the Seattle area if we did nothing, and what it looks like with full social isolation and in between. It was informative and delivered without emotional melodrama. Pretty impressive.

Even the national news teams have been fairly drama free lately. I like it.

And now the Seattle Library and all its branches will be closed until at least April 13th. Holy crap.

I worked from home today due to a commitment in town, so I saw the noon local news. The woman explained that the station was presenting events as they happened, and was not trying to cause fear or panic. Even the woman who does the farm report had to include the virus. The university supposedly has shut down, but (as she said), someone has to milk the cows at the ag building.

It's a completely different take than the Chicago news.

I continue to think of you, by the way. When a glimmer of worry happens, I remind myself that, if anyone can face this in a rational way, it's you.

Looked into your journal because I'm a former Chicagoan living in a small town. Hope that you don't mind if I add you.

It is dire if the public library closes. There's been a lot of talk on library listservs when or if libraries should close. We're an academic library, and there's some talk about classes going online but the library staying open. My boss said that sounded like some people's lives are more important than others.

Our public library will be closed for two weeks from Monday. I think it should stay closed longer than that.

It didn't even occur to me to check to see if the local libraries around here will be closed or not (I was going to go tomorrow). Turns out they're not closing but they are cancelling some events.
