I wonder

I wonder what my now dead parents would think and do during this whole virus thing. And my friend, John, also dead. I wonder what it would have looked like in the 90's. I wonder what it will look like 5 years from now. I wonder what the kids who are 3 and 4 years old now, will learn when they study about this time in school.

I wonder why we, here in Washington state were the first to get the virus and are so late to order shelter in place.

I don't wonder when I'll ever get my Amazon Fresh order delivered. It will be here Wednesday!! I set up a tablet that lives next to the bed and when I got up to pee at 1:30, I checked and there was a delivery date open!! 3 actually. 4-6 on Wednesday was the first one and I grabbed it. Now I will have plenty of cat litter, plenty of Diet Dr. Pepper and, finally, cinnamon pop tarts without icing oh and CheeseIts. You know, essentials. (Of course, it's highly likely that they will not actually have much of this in stock and they will delivery only the bananas. But, I'm done stressing over it.)

Another day of the usual planned here. IF prescription ready, THEN quick one stop at Costco to pick up. If not, then going nowhere. TV. Knitting. Hopefully treadmill. And shower, for sure. When these two get through with it, I'll even make up the bed.

You too on the unfrosted cinnamon pop-tarts? I knew there was a reason I liked you!

And All I know is that I don’t know anything anymore......they are making us work from home and do what we would normally do in the office, except we can’t print anything to work from so how are we supposed to do it?
And now our Governor has mandated stay at home. Ugh. I just want to go somewhere else, except I can’t....everywhere is the same.

I envy you. Retired and not having to worry about anything except yourself and the two kids!

My parents were very Do What Needs Done. Try to find some amusement in things if you can. Keep on plugging onward. They were both children (9 and 6 years old during the 1918 flu epidemic). I wish I could ask them about it. They also were there for the Great Depression. They did talk about that. It shaped them quite a bit.

I was thinking just the other day that this rewrites the history books for my daughter, most likely.

I keep wishing that at some point my grandparents and great-grandparents (I knew 2 of them) had talked about the 1918-19 pandemic flu.

People keep talking about this being historic... but in the grand scheme of things, is it really likely to be more than a note in history books? If something changes because of it long term, then maybe, but otherwise "everyone stayed home for a couple months" doesn't seem that exciting. My grandmother though keeps saying, "I am nearly 100 years old, and I have never seen anything like this!" So maybe it just doesn't feel that noteworthy to me because I'm antisocial anyway...

Good to see you and they are doing well. My latest order from the grocery store was missing a few things, which I expected.

But I was kind of pained-but-amused to realize that they had not been able to get me hot dogs but they had been able to include the hot dog buns. Sigh. If that's the worst thing I deal with, I'm good.

...but I wonder what I'll do with those buns.
