I spent a lot of years in South Carolina. I lived there twice. It is Africa hot and humid and full of bugs and that's in the winter. Turns out one of those women I went to high school with lives in Hawaii in the winter and the spends summers in South Carolina. That makes my skin itch and sweat. I'm learning a lot from these email threads (there are now several and probably many more I'm not in on)

Today is the day that the Baseball season was to start. Sad. Wonder if we will see any of it this year.

I just went from the living room to the bathroom so passed through the bedroom. The cats are snuggled together half buried in the comforter in the center of the bed. I'm sure they snuggled in saying "thankgod, we have the bed to ourselves and don't have to worry about getting squashed when she rolls over! yeah!"

I notice this morning that buds are all over The Tree That I Hate. Soon it will be full of leaves and block my view of the world. So instead of celebrating opening day of baseball season, I'm morning the beginning of the end of window stalker season. :(

Today's top o' the list is shower. Then finish making those pants. Then pick up the messes made by me and the cats. Then treadmill. I did 20 minutes yesterday. I should do at least that today. Then TV and knitting. Amazon is bringing cat food today - a day earlier than they said they would. The cats would be relieved if they understood. I forgot to toss in a bag of Biggie's treats but he's got enough to get by, I think. I just added it to April's subscribe and save.

Ok. Time to get this party started.

I've never been to South Carolina, but really, every description I've read of it sounds less than pleasant. Yuck.

Mississippi and Louisiana are equally unpleasant during the long summers.

Mississippi is somewhere that I've always thought I'd be ok with staying away from, although hadn't given much thought one way or other to LA. Do you live in one of those places? Your user name makes me think of Rhode Island, but maybe I'm wrong!

I wasn't familiar with all of these places, so I googled some of them just for fun. I found it amusing that the first thing that popped up when I googled Wheeling WV is that the Fitzsimmons Family Dog Park is closed until further notice to due lots of rain. Big news. :)

I used to live in both those places. Grew up in Mississippi and, later after we finished our degrees, Hubby's first teaching position was in Louisiana. I've always counted us as extremely lucky that he didn't get offered tenure down there because it got us out of Louisiana before hurricane Katrina tore the place apart.
I can tell you one thing about both those states: If you move there, your ability to meet and make friends amongst the locals will depend almost totally on which church you join. If you don't join a church or marry a local who already has a lot of family members living in the area, you are going to be lonely.

My user name comes from the fact that I love rhododendrons and azaleas.

Friends have a condo in Chicago, near North Pier. When I'd visit I loved to window-stalk. Twenty different shows going on! Sorry your season is about to end.

South Carolina is nice -- until May or June. Then it becomes as you explain. And, it doesn't let up until late October. And, we may be staying here for a while longer. Our plan was to leave the first week in May, but that seems unwise for so many virus type reasons. Who knows how long we'll be here -- sweating it out in the noseeums and mosquitoes - and other tropical livestock.

I've enjoyed South Carolina when I've visited for work, but can not imagine going back over the summer and staying for any length of time.

Also, catching up Fayette was a real name?

Hhahaha Fayetta. The last name as first name is such a weird thing. Can you imagine naming my daughter Schumacher Mitchell.

Wonder how many of them also share a Facebook account. ICK

Hehehe, just reading this comment thread has made me laugh. When I was engaged to my husband be wondered if we should share an email. I laughed in his face and that was the end of that ridiculousness.

Your friend who summers in South Carolina must have family who insist upon her presence there.
I grew up in the Deep South and I can say without a shadow of doubt that I never want to live down there again. The summers are horribly humid and hot and there are way too many deliberately ignorant people there for it to be a comfortable place to live.
