The building management company sent an email that a resident in this building has tested positive for Covid-19. I'm not sure I how I feel about that email.

Why send it?? I think the assumption is - we live in Seattle in March of 2020 - that out of the 300ish people here in this building more than a few either have it or are sharing exposure to it. Confirmation does what?

One thing it does is make me want to make a giant sign to carry whenever I leave my unit that says "IT'S NOT ME!"

There should be no change in behavior now that we know someone here has it, because we should already be using that behavior.

So why send it??

I did my walk today - same walk as yesterday but today it was hard. I had to stop to breathe more than several times and I didn't bundle up enough. It was cold. But I'm glad I went and I will go again tomorrow.

But mostly I hope this is a habit I will develop and not hate and just do every day forever.

I love my daily walks. Having nowhere to go anymore hasn't slowed me down one bit.

Maybe to let folks know to take more care in common areas?
Don’t know...that’s the only thing I can think of...

Unnecessary fear mongering, by the sound of it.

Oh, I add a gold star to my list when Zoe makes me walk and it is harder. I usually do better after I've taken a day off but Zoe has little patience with that sked so I go even when I don't feel good. AND I swear those days make me stronger.

My building is part of non-profit system ... Catholic Eldercare. We are a 62+ community in a separate building from their campus. Day after day they require our manager to send out their latest masturbatory letter at our doorstep. The letters don't make a distinction between the rules for a nursing home/assisted living situation and ours, where they can only suggest a course of action. I think the constant barrage of letters exacerbates our fears. I can't tell you how many trees they've killed in the past two weeks with all of the paper!

We all should be acting like we have the virus and follow guidelines. I so agree with you. Your management company's leadership needs a better PR person; all employees should be offered crisis communications training. Are you going to suddenly go out and hug and kiss this person? It sounds like the lawyers are playing CYA.

My work shares the building with Australia Post. We were emailed couple of weeks back that an Australia Post employee in our building had tested positive.
I can only speculate that this is some kind of legal requirement to inform.

I wonder if they aren't required to report it to anyone possibly exposed. It's a way of tracking infection patterns, too. Unsettling, yes, but I think I'd want to know just to monitor my own symptoms and make plans for a prolonged absence.

Which also makes me wonder if you have a cat plan. Kind of morbid, but probably worth considering.

Hoping it's someone whose path you have never even crossed!

[livejournal.com profile] jwg and I have been taking walks almost every day. He points out that I should be doing this anyway (assuming that I continue to resist the idea of going to the gym once it reopens), and I agree in principle, although in practice I've been pretty lazy about it. Hope the habit will stick. Really, even when I can resume contra dancing, it isn't enough exercise (I mean, each time is enough, but it's not frequent enough).
