I'm astonished and I appreciate so much all of the comments left about The Smalls. Really. Thank you all.

We're ok starting the day after. We're trying to figure out the way here. Without The Smalls in my lap all the time, Biggie is wallowing in His Turn. He slept stretched out next to me most of the night. And he's here now helping me type.

I need to learn what he wants in terms of food - when/what. He's fine with the dry kibble but does he also want wet food and if/so when? I dished out a teaspoon for him yesterday and he ignored it but this morning, someone had eaten it all. And litter box - no, he cannot keep both.

I wondered last night if I should get him a kitten. But then decided, nah. We can make it on our own. Plus, I got no car to go fetch anything.

I am so grateful to Biggie. If I had lost The Smalls and had to come home to an empty house to be Stay At Home'd in, that would have been even more heart breaking.

Biggie did want to get up a little early this morning. Which was fine. So I'm up and I've had a lovely Sunday morning breakfast. As soon as I finish this second cup of coffee, I'm going to get dressed and hit the road for my walk up to the ballpark.

And then more watching of Billions, knitting, playing Stickie with Biggie. I also have a top cut out and ready to sew.. so.. maybe.

I was busy with other things yesterday and missed the passing. I'm sorry. And I think Biggie will end up being the perfect companion. But for the side road it was the intent all along anyway. You just provided a long, compassionate runway for the Smalls.

Hugs

So pleased you have Biggie to keep you company. Our pets give so much, in such a short life, it's hard on the heart, but also they lighten our hearts immeasurably.

I've needed a bit of time to process the news. I knew it was coming when I read yesterday that you're taking him to vet, and I kept checking LJ for news last night while you were at the vet's (time zones), hoping... When you posted the news I started crying at just the subject line, even before reading the entry. It felt like I had suffered the loss myself. I am so very sorry, for both you and Biggie. Please give him a big hug from me and my kids. And thank you for all the love and care you gave The Smalls.

Xx
RR

Until these last few years we have always had cats - my mother also had cats for most of my life. And in both households we worried when we had a death about the ones left behind. Mum said they had to realise the missing one was not coming back - just as Biggie checked out the empty carrier yesterday - then they seem to settle.

My daughter worried when we were left with just Shaka - but he seemed to expand into the role of 'an only cat' within a day or two as well. I am so pleased to hear the Biggie is doing the same thing.

I had wondered to myself yesterday if the Smalls being gone would increase the amount of "you" time that Biggie will want, at least for awhile. Sweet kitty.

I thought of you this morning. Are you in touch with your housekeeper? If so, might I suggest, if you haven't thought of it already, contacting her to let her know about this loss? When you're feeling up to it of course. I'm sure she'd want to know, as she realy seemed attached to them too.

No, thank YOU Susan for sharing Small with all of us. I enjoyed following along with his whole story, and even loved sharing your pictures and stories with my daughter. She was even saddened by the news. I'm glad Biggie is still here to entertain me, but it will definitely be a different story with out there being a duo of black cats.

Glad to hear you and Biggie are adjusting well. Thanks for sharing smalls with us. I do miss your pool selfies though but what can you do? Stiff upper lip as the Brits say. Lol.

I also want to thank you for sharing The Smalls and Biggie with us. Definitely a bright spot in these trying times.

Hugs to both of you.
