Well, the new allergy medicine (cetirizine) is total fail. First of all it makes me sleepy and that's annoying. But worst of all it does not stop my nose from running so what's the stupid point?! Oh well, now I know.

I'm very weary of blowing my nose.

I bought cookies from a baker on Etsy that had tons of wildly favorable reviews. The cookies took twice as long to get here as promised, were dry and only moderately delicious. I had specifically asked if they had coconut in them and was told they did not but they sure taste like they do. Lesson learned. There are a ton of bakers now on Etsy but I don't think I'll be trying that little experiment any more.

All is fine here today. The usual. Biggie is out on the porch watching for birds and flies. The house is tidy and quiet. I'm waiting for a couple of Amazon deliveries.

Today's project is culling shit off the shelves in the haul to make room for more of my yarn stash. This will mean filling up the Goodwill bin again and make for another drop off trip. But, I think I have room in my busy schedule and the car battery will appreciate the jolt.

So that's the plan.

I always wonder about it when I buy food that has amazing reviews and I don't like it, or think it's only average. Now you are experiencing the same. Maybe we just have more refined tastes? Hahahaha

You probably do have more refined tastes, and more heightened awareness. (This is not a liked view when presented to hoi polloi.) Tends to set folks off and I'll forever remain, paraphrasing the words of Robert Louis Stevenson, "in singular bad scent with [the offended parties.]"

The encapsulated version is, too often reviews such as you allude to are more about the reviewer than the item being reviewed.

If it's a question of flavor only, it may be that the baker added some butyl acetate, a common ingredient used in vanilla-flavored baked goods (most commonly cookies) and in lemon- and coconut-flavored baked goods to contribute to, enhance, or actually supply that flavor. It's also found in nail polish, which might be a good reason for avoiding the stuff, just on principle.
If you simply dislike coconut, well, bad on the seller, but it is better than a severe (or even a mild) allergic reaction.
And how disappointing!

If I were nearer by, I'd bake you the cookies of your choice. I'd even follow your recipe, if you have a favorite one.

If you are allergic to coconut, and you're having a reaction to the cookies such as the one you get from coconut, I'm sure you're more aware of what you need to do than I could begin to guess.
Please take care, and be well!

I have been using chlorpheniramine maleate for years - doesn't make me sleepy and works pretty well. I take 4mg tablets - once in the morning, and then during the rest of the day as needed. They are very inexpensive. Grasses, ragweed, and dust are what bother me - maybe other things too.

Cetirizine is weird. My mother swears by it and we have totally the same allergies. To me, it doesn't do anything. Allegra makes me want to kill myself and corticosteroids mess with my brain too. The only thing that helps is good ole benadryl but I want to save that for helping me sleep when I need it :( decisions decisions....

God, Allergy meds are weird. When I took Allegra 15 years ago, it made me feel like I was on meth. Now it's absolutely lovely. Zyrtec used to work and now does nothing. And I can't take American Claritin, but I can take European Clarinex, which is the same thing with an extra methyl group attached.
