The city announced yesterday that they are not going to open the pools this Summer. They plan to announce a new aquatic schedule in August. We have to get to Phase 2 before the gyms can open and we're at 1.5 now with no sign or when 2 will happen. Even so, it's unlikely the pools in those gyms will open at phase 2. I miss swimming so much.

But. Hey. It is what it is. Thoughts and Prayers. Whatever. Moving on with what I got.

Today's walk was harder than most and I think that's what's got me more bummed than anything. I wish my boyfriend did not feel compelled to take weekends off.

On the up side some of yesterday's spam made scrambled eggs extra special for breakfast today.

I now have zero fresh food in this house. QFC had a pick up slot available for after my fabric shopping tomorrow so I decided order up. Veggies and fruit and potatoes. Plus I have until midnight to tweak the order. I really do love this system. And as long as I'm out anyway.

Today, I'm in for the day with no plans. But I have knitting and TV and books. Plus it's still cool. And there's a soft rain that I can hear thanks to The Tree That I Hate. And it's not raining inside.

Biggie's napping with Stickie here next to me.

So... all's good.

Just got an email yesterday that one of our outdoor city pools is now going to open, with restrictions as follows: "Visitors will need to register for a 90-minute session for lap swimming or for family swim and will be assigned a lane or portion of the pool. Normal pool supplies such as kick boards, life jackets and deck chairs will not be available and guests will be encouraged to bring their own if needed. Also, swimmers should plan to arrive and leave in their swim gear as there will be limited changing room access and physical distancing requirements in place."

I don't think I'm gonna chance it, though. Maybe on a really hot day I'll go briefly? Just seems like a place a virus would like.

The gym that I go to opened up yesterday. I paid attention to only the new pool rules.

- steam, sauna and hot tubs are closed
- only 1 person per lane allowed
- 45 minute swim only
- no family swim
- every day from 1 to 2:30 the entire place closes down for sanitizing EXCEpt, it's open for the 65 and older crowd. Which includes the pool.
- they also mention calling in and reserving a lane but gave no more information about how to do that. And what it might look like. I think they're still trying to figure it out.

I plan to let the week go by and then give them a call, if they haven't updated their website, and ask exactly how to reserve a lane.

I find it interesting that pools are not opening. Depending of course on the pool and circumstances, the actually exercise of swimming is one of the safest activities to pursue during this pandemic. I really miss your swimming, too ... I miss the photos of your swimsuits, your swim hair and the joy you get from the exercise! Fingers crossed, you can get back to it somehow before the end of the year that never happened.

Our new Y (with pool) is supposed to open in September. Outdoor exercise classes start Monday. The equipment is available for use inside the gym - all spaced 6 feet apart. No lockers or showers.

I'll be there for all of it!

Do you have any interest in swimming outdoors? The ocean might not be your thing, but maybe there is a lake spot? Of course I had too Google and found these places: https://seattle.curbed.com/maps/outdoor-swimming-beaches-pools-seattle
