Today was a swim day so already glorious. Red Shorts was there but he had on blue shorts. That trickster. Actually today was the first day that all four lanes were in use. Wild. Next swim isn't until Thursday.

I just got my daily email from USPS and it looks like my debit card, my other visa and my Humana card will all be delivered today. Plus there is a package. That I'm not expecting. It originated in Twisp, WA which is a teeny weeny town smack dab in the middle of nowhere. I know no one there. Mystery!!

Our county wide virus numbers just keep going up - not substantially - some days we don't eve have new deaths - but up. More virus. More hospitalizations. I kind of wish we would do a Melborne and just shut everything down again, force everyone home and just end it. That's easy for me to say because I'm not penalized by staying home. I'd miss swimming but I'd give it up for a month if it meant the end to the virus. When I drive home from the pool, I drive by people. And still they are out there in groups, no masks. And that's in caring, conscientious, do what's right Seattle. I can only imagine how much worse it is in other places. Americans are such selfish creeps.

On the up side, my social security deposit landed in the correct spot today. Nice. Whew.

Today's chores include laundry. Not just mentioning it here and then doing nothing but actually putting the clothes in the washer, etc. Also I have chicken thighs that have bones in them that need to come out. And hamburger that needs to be pattied before it goes in the freezer.

But, first I need to go back down to the car and retrieve my phone which never made it up here after my swim.

I have a very close family friend who is from Twisp. It really does sound like a very out of the way place. She used to participate in these wagon train type of events where they would take people out and drive around in covered wagons and camp as if they were settlers. I guess it was a fun thing for tourists...I never really heard or understood any other point or goal to it. Anyway, when you first started typing about the unexpected package, I thought to myself that maybe you were going to be the recipient of some of the mysterious seeds that are appearing everywhere...but I think those are supposed to be coming from China, so probably not.

I agree-Americans are selfish creeps in so many cases.

I went through Twisp sometime in the past year, but I can't remember why or where I was going. I'm looking forward to learning what the package is.

My mom lived in Twisp for about 17 years. It's a cute little town, and the country is very pretty up there.

She moved to Monroe a while back because they just couldn't deal with the winters. They moved up there not long before the first big snowfall of that year - it was something like two and a half feet, and it pretty much kept it up for a good chunk of the season. It didn't take long for them to invest in an industrial-strength snowblower!!

Amen, sister.

I don't know why my MIL's nurse practitioner didn't want her to get tested, despite having the tell-tale "loss of sense of taste" symptom. Thank goodness MIL pushed for it. But then - BIL wanted to ignore it so he wouldn't lose out on a bathroom remodel! And his wife wanted to keep it a secret from everyone at the HOSPITAL where she works! Turns out the entire family tested positive. If the health department hadn't gotten involved who knows how many innocent people they would have infected.

Melbourne did well in the first shut-down, it was when everything opened up that people kind of went nuts. I wonder if that will happen again.

Another LJ friend of mine lives in Tasmania, which also pretty much eliminated cases, but they are an island so they can really control who goes in and out.

Wow. I took a look at Twisp on Google Street View, and I heard banjos playing.

NJ's numbers have been going up, too. Our governor is talking about tightening up restrictions. COVIDiots are talking about how it's "an infringement on their freedoms" or some BS.

Massachusetts (which had some of the worst numbers in April) had dropped off sharply during May and June, and started cautiously opening up in late June and July; the numbers leveled off at fairly low rates, but stubbornly refused to go down any further, and now have started to creep up again (not much, but worrying nonetheless). Some medical advisers are suggesting that the state should drop back to Phase 2; I hope the Governor is listening.
