Today I am going into a grocery store for the first time since early march. I've been to Trader Joe's twice so it's not like I'm a grocery virgin but still. Going into a QFC (that's our Krogering out here) during regular (not old people) hours to do regular (not really) shopping. I don't need that much so I'm kind of looking at an in and out situation. It's the list that the online/pick up system keeps not fulfilling so it's silly to try them again for this stuff. I'm just going to go do it. As our president says, if I die, it is what it is.

It's housecleaner day so my day out on the town. At least for a while. Goodwill and QFC and if she's still here, I'll park in the shade and read my book til she's gone.

I have a couple of new books waiting on my Kindle and an audio book ready to start. I listened to a political podcast on my walk this morning. I may abandon it. They are getting too much into their own shit. Just because you and everyone you know hates Trump, that does not mean he's going down. There are a shit ton of people who vote who think he's top notch and will cast their vote to make sure he gets four more years and those who ignore that are just setting themselves up for disappointment and taking a crowd with them. When the various favorability polls start showing Trump's favorability 30% and below THEN we can get cocky.

Even here in Socialist Seattle, the evening news found a 50+ guy registering to vote for the first time yesterday 'because the liberals are just taking us down'. Of course it's not the liberals, but the pandemic but... it is what it is.

OK, I'm done. I need to go back to listening to fiction where there are no face masks and crowds aren't dangerous.

Now I need to go brush my teeth and get dressed and get the fork otta here.

What Hacksontap does best is talk about the mechanics of the election, the background of moving their candidate, any candidate, forward. When there were a bunch of Dems they were interesting in how they talked about this campaign decision or that one.
Now they've devolved into the same full time anti-trump stuff that the echo chamber is already full of.
It was a good idea for a podcast but all things revert to the mean.

Not that it will matter but I did write them and point out they had become just another echo chamber podcast and they might want to find a way back to their roots.

Respectfully, ma'am, when it comes to elections I NEVER get cocky.

For one thing, people who felt strongly enough to vote someone into office once may refuse to rethink their positions (or to get off their positions) and vote for that individual again.
For another, there's a VERY famous photograph of President-Elect Harry S. Truman holding up a newspaper, printed before all the ballots had been counted, decreeing in letters usually reserved for things like "WAR!" or "VICTORY IN EUROPE!" and "JAPAN SURRENDERS!," "DEWEY WINS!"

And I never feel secure about the Electoral College, who by tradition and custom will each respectively vote according to the popular vote in the states each Elector represents, but who aren't bound to do so. It's always possible that my ballot will count for nothing.

No; I bite my fingernails and keep reminding myself, "Breathe. Breathe. You have to continue to breathe...." at least from election day (sometimes earlier) until the Inauguration after the Oath of Office has been administered.

Meanwhile, m'dear, stay safe and stay healthy.

I have a bunch of family members who think he's top notch (part of the reason I quit facebook) and I can't understand people getting cocky now. The other day Zen was watching MSNBC and they were clutching their pearls about something Trump had done and I was like 1. this is not surprising in the slightest and 2. no one who supports him will change their mind over this. I am half sure that he will be reelected in November though I am certainly hoping he will not. I'm also 100% sure that if he is not reelected it will be a fight to get him out of the white house
