Every time I get into my shower now, I hit my foot on the tub's edge and after I finish swearing I tell the tub his days are numbered. It's a thing. I am also being extra careful - making good use of the grab bars. Murphy's Law says these days would be just epic for falling in the shower and breaking a hip or worse.

Fitbit cannot handle the truth. Every morning on the treadmill, it dreams of yet another way exercise. And, FYI:

1. each of these days was 25 minutes - liar, liar pants on fire - quit cheating me, Fitbit.
2. I did NOT skip yesterday!

We have free COVID-19 testing here in Seattle at several different convenient locations. Driver through no waiting. No appointment necessary. Twitter, Instagram, TV news... they are all saying 'come get tested!!!' 'come now. it's easy. it's free. no appointment needed!!'

Now, why in the fuck would I go waste the resources of a test? I have no symptoms. I have had no symptoms. The chances of my being near anyone with it are slim almost to none. I cannot think of any reason why I would, should go get a test.

And, yet, everywhere I'm being told... GET A TEST.

You can manually add yesterday's workout. I have to manually add each day's yoga workout because it doesn't recognize that I'm doing anything at all (and have to log it as "sports" because it also just doesn't recognize "yoga" as anything fitness-related). But to manually add a workout, just click on the little clock icon in the top right.

I love Fitbit's active imagination! I look forward to seeing it record your water polo and crocodile wrestling activities.

I'm avoiding getting a test for the same reasons - save it for someone who needs it!

I wouldn't say "no" to a proper antibodies test, but I don't feel like I need the regular swab.

Nothing like that happening here nor is it likely to, but were I being encouraged to be tested I would be suspicious.

Seems rather silly, doesn't it, when a disease with an incubation period of more than a week is the subject? Take a test while you're asymptomatic, get a false "all clear," and trot about shedding/transmitting virus everywhere? Worse, go out to get a test, and be around people who've been around other people who actually are shedding and spreading the virus?

Here, every test given is presumed positive until proven otherwise. It helps inflate the numbers. 🙄

Get a test. We need more false positives to prove the tests are unreliable.

Testing

Where I live, we're all encouraged to go get tested even if we're asymptomatic. My family of 4 has been tested, and it was a simple and non-invasive process - we didn't even get out of our vehicle. They've found a few instances where individuals test positive for the virus without displaying any symptoms. It also has provided me with a certain amount of comfort know that no one in my home has the virus, and the steps we've taken in our lives are working - I go into my office 1/week and am the one who generally goes grocery shopping. They also have indicated that everyone who gets a test provides for better data regarding the virus. Having said that, I get that the test only provides me a snapshot of that moment and I could contract the virus 2 minutes after having been tested. If I were to develop symptoms at any time, I would go get tested again. Our Chief Medical Officer of Health has recommended and encouraged all of us to get tested whether we're asymptomatic or not, and if the capacity exists and we're not taking tests away from someone who is symptomatic, why not. However, because our schools are opening soon, she's asked that those who are asymptomatic wait until after September 1, to open up more capacity for all teachers to be tested before school starts.

But......I live in Canada.

I think the idea behind encouraging everybody to get tested is that the more numbers they have overall, the better idea they have of how things are going. I can see the merit of this idea.

I'm still waiting for the testing site for cyclists. It's interesting that the people who are most likely to catch the disease are the least likely to have a car so they can get tested in one of those drive through testing sites.

You know one weird little culture shock coming back from China? Tubs! Why are there tubs everywhere, even in small hotel rooms? Does anybody actually use them as tubs? I have nearly slipped over a dozen times trying to get in and out. They use up more space than a shower, and they're surely more dangerous. Tubs should go.

I will vicariously live through you when you get yours replaced.
