I started at Costco where I did get gas. I didn't need much but now I don't need any. When they opened the store, I shopped the endcaps to see what the deals were but didn't see any so I went to the pharmacy for my prescription. I was waited on by a really nice guy and we chit chatted a bit. I don't know what made me ask but I heard myself saying 'you guys don't do flu shots do you?'

Turns out they do all the shots that all the other drug stores do. They have no signs about it and their process is a little rough. Also they were short staffed but I filled out the form and waited about 20 minutes and got my shot! easy peasy all done. Nice.

Then I decided I was in the mood for some Safeway. The closest one is in the worst neighborhood but I hadn't heard of any shootings like in the last week so what the heck. Turns out they've got religion or something and totally cleaned up their act. It felt very safe and was very clean and bright and well appointed. I got everything on my list and then some.

I got three deli salads and just mixed them up for some lunch and they were DELICIOUS. So delicious that I may have to go back there the minute I run out and get more.

Like every place else, they will not let you use your own bags but unlike the pick up situation, they use plastic which suits me way better because now I have a new stock of trash can/litter box collector liners.

So now I have a happy tongue/tummy, a nicely stocked fridge, a clean house and nothing else I have to do. I might even postpone laundry til tomorrow. Why not?

I have been wondering why you were getting your flu shot so early this year. Then I remembered two things.
1. You live in a different part of the country, so perhaps the flu season is different there than here.
2. It is already September!!!!! How did that happen?

I was glad to know that you always go out when the cleaner comes, as I do, too. Then, last Tuesday, my daughter arrived here about 9.30 am 'because I feel odd being in when the cleaner comes...' So now I feel it is the normal thing to do :)

Good job with the shot. You got it so early it will probably expire in November.

the Sprouts around here used to sell a ginger chicken salad and a seafood salad that I absolutely loved but apparently they decided to stop selling them at the same time they had to close down their salad bar because of covid. Booooooooooo

You got a lot done. I usually see signs for flu shots but I haven't yet, though I haven't been in many places that do them. I think the Costco here puts up a sign right by the pharmacy at some point, I have noticed that in the past.

In MA they had a prohibition on bringing your own bag for a while, no matter who packed it. They lifted it sometime in August (and reinstated the suspended plastic bag ban); some stores still require you to pack your own, some do not (the Market Basket that we generally go to during the summer does not). I don't know about the Cambridge Whole Foods, but I guess we'll find out next month.

Nice! We usually get free flu shots at work, I'm not sure what their plan is going to be this time

Hooray for a tasty lunch!

Safeway here has allowed us to use our own bags all along as long as we pack them ourselves, which I'm very happy to do because I'm picky about how my groceries get packed.

I got my flu shot earlier than ever, the very first day they offered a clinic on campus last month. It may be too early -- I might well need a booster in late winter. But getting protected fast seemed like a good idea! I'm sure we'll know in a couple of months if the flu season is as tame as predictions currently suggest based on the light flu season in the southern hemisphere this year.

A couple of stores around here briefly resumed giving out free plastic bags, but it didn't last. At least we're now allowed to bring reusable bags with us again.
