If you need me, look inside
Sep. 8th, 2020 09:09 amThis is as of 8:30 this morning. I am not going anywhere.

I was going to do the shopping I didn't do this weekend. But, nope, this kind of air would make my poor COPD'd lungs cry. And still there is nothing on the list that is critical. So inside is lovely.
Many people who knit and crochet, do it to have lovely knitted and crocheted things. Many others do it because they love the process of knitting or crocheting. I've come to learn that I do it because I love to start shit. I love planning and thinking about a project and then getting it going to prove I can do what I thought up in my head. Sadly, I rarely get to the end point, it seems. Knitters and crocheters have acronyms they love - LYS: local yarn shop, SABLE: stash accumulated beyond life expectancy, UFO: unfinished object, WIP: work in progress.
I have a house full of the latter and several UFO's. (UFO's are WIP's that you've given up on totally.)
So, yep, yesterday I started another. I saw a tweet about an article on ROYGBIV... this is an entry of acronyms all of a sudden! I didn't read the article but I do love a good rainbow pallette - Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet = ROYGBIV. [EDIT. I left out the Blue! Thanks
runeshower]
I went to the Wall o' Yarn and found the skeins I needed.

And then I proceeded to spend nearly 4 solid hours 'painting' options in a spreadsheet. I finally settled on...

Last night, I got started...

So that's pretty much what I'll be doing today, I think. That and waiting for
xina_g to post more pictures of her new kittens.

Date: 2020-09-08 04:32 pm (UTC)You know, somehow, I developed an obsession with weaving as you go. I am so grateful that I did. I do it by sections. When I get to the Red on this, I'll stop and weave in all those ends before I move on.
I discovered that all laptops have a magnetic spot. My current one has two. It keeps my needle handy and ready (and protected from the cat).
If I waited until the end... well, I rarely get to the end... but, if I did, I'd be coming to you for the name and address of those end weaving people!

Date: 2020-09-08 04:36 pm (UTC)I know I should weave as I go, and I try to, but once I get into the groove the last thing I want to do is pull out that darning needle. But then I think about my first granny square blanket and how I just plowed through it and it felt like it took longer to weave in the ends than it did actually crocheting it! And maybe I think I oughtta start practicing weaving as I go. :D

Date: 2020-09-08 07:43 pm (UTC)The yard is so bright and cheery. I love that you plan it out on a spreadsheet! That seems like something I would do. lol Although I have the same problem, I'm great at starting projects and never finishing them. I have enough random crocheted squares that I could probably put them together and have a good sized afghan. I should check.

Date: 2020-09-08 11:46 pm (UTC)OMG! Substitute quilting above, and you totally have me, LOL. I think I have at least half a dozen partially finished quilts, not to mention the planned projects I haven't started yet. And the cross-stitch projects in the same shape . . . except I stopped crossstitching before I got bifocals, because I couldn't see to do it. I really should try again now that I have had bifocals for 3 years . . . ;)
ROYGBIV is my favorite color! :D
