It's supposed to start raining at 11 am this morning. And rain all the rest of the day. I sure hope it is smoke clearing rain. We are back in the Unhealthy range (better than Very Unhealthy but not as good as Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups) but the smoke forecast for tomorrow is MODERATE!! We're moving on up...

Of course, a new round of smoke is due in this weekend. I wonder if I can sneak one teensy errand in between smokes. Guess we'll see. If we get to moderate, I might try.

I opened up the shower curtains last night so that I could see the beautiful shower from my bed. It makes me soooo happy. Imagine how happy I will be actually taking a shower!

Darrell told me that the best cleaning solution for the shower was a mix of half white vinegar and half water. Turns out that's what they used. 1. either it's not that great a cleaner or they used a dirty rag because my counter top's glossy finish was matte (until I fixed it with just, plain water. and 2. in a small bathroom, smell lingers and vinegar is just not that pleasant an aroma. When it still stunk of vinegar this morning, I stuck my sandalwood diffuser in there. Take that, vinegar stink!

And slippery. I stepped into the shower to hang my wash cloth on the grab bar and nearly ended up on my ass. Let's just go on record here, I have no interest in dying ironically or, worse, breaking any bones in my new shower which I had installed so I wouldn't trip over the bathtub ledge. We selected a kind of pebble finish for the floor so that it would not be slippery. Fail.

And, once again, Amazon to the rescue. This morning I found a 27" square white bath mat with a center hole for the drain. I just got the email that it has shipped and will be here before 6 tonight. I'm not even sorry about how much I love Amazon.

In other news, the susandennis in Illinois either has a new baby or knows one - big shopping spree at Old Navy yesterday - baby stuff mostly but boots for her. I so wonder what she's thinking when she gives out my email address and never gets any emails from these places. I still get her Paypal emails including the monthly statements. Oh and she bought life insurance.

When I was in college, I had a best friend named Heather. We were pretty much joined at the hip. We'd go to my house one holiday and her house the next one. One time we were at her house and somehow got bitching about never getting any mail at school. Her dad loved a good joke and originated many and traveled on planes a lot for work. Soon after our visit, we found out later, he spent at least a couple of plane rides filling out all of those 'send me more info' cards in the airline magazines with out college addresses. We never ever ever complained about no mail again.

The life insurance deal that the other susandennis bought apparently included a 5,769 email feature. Google couldn't believe it was all spam so I had to set up a rule to get it all deleted. I'm still getting 3 or 4 a day. But, at least I only know that because I looked in my spam folder.

Today is laundry day. If I can't wash me, at least I can wash my clothes.

Better get on it.

At this stage, would you want the emails to stop? It's like you have a second life with new things happening all the time!

I don't suppose they've been as silly as to send policy details to you so that you have an address or the name of a beneficiary of the policy? It's likely the beneficiary would live at the same address so even just the name of a beneficiary could help narrow down the field by cross referencing the names to pinpoint an address.

I should run stalking classes ...

I only have one offender and he doesn't buy anything interesting. He lives in Texas so I can't even do a drive by to see what he looks like, although I did street view his house. Looks quite tidy!

Have any of them signed up with Match.com or other online dating service? For awhile there, I was getting regular updates from Match showing really not great options in and around Atlanta.

Have you ever had someone be combative when you inform them they have the wrong address? I've had that twice but the person using my address at least reached out and apologized when the offenders did not.

How annoying that the floor is slippery! Glad you found the mat, though you'd think they'd do something to rough up the place where people are going to be standing, sheesh.

I used to get emails for someone else too, it's so strange! Why wouldn't they fix something, especially when their financial info is also being shared? I can imagine giving a fake email about something you don't care about, but don't you want to be able to track your purchases and be sure that important things like your life insurance are getting to you? I wonder if she thinks it's her email address and can't figure out why she never gets her email confirmations.

PayPal AND life insurance? God god, Susan-Dennis-in-Illinois, get yourself together.

I wish she would take up online gambling. You could be like “well, she lost $600 today.” Or whatever. But online shopping receipts is pretty entertaining too.

I'm telling you, email issues are not her only problem.

LOL!

Ok, you're making me wish i had access to a stranger's emails, just for laughs.

Omg that's awful, I would hate anyone to get my post but oddly I've started getting old navy emails recently for some reason. Addressed to man with same initials as me. My email address is not linked to my name so it's not a typo issue. I should point out that we don't have Old Navy in uk. Could our emails be culled from LJ?

You know, I can understand using a different e-mail address for your Old Navy receipts. Maybe. Personally I like to get my receipts.

But using an e-mail you don't have access to for your PayPal account? That's just weird. Surely they know that's not their e-mail address?

there was a woman who had the same first and last name as me but a different middle name who had a LOT of unpaid parking and traffic tickets which caused me some problems at the DMV when I was trying to get my license renewed. I was not real happy.

In other news, the susandennis in Illinois either has a new baby or knows one

When I first got my phone number, I kept getting phone calls for some lady named Edith who apparently had been giving everybody my phone number instead of hers. Not only that, but evidently she ran the local AARP chapter, and had her (my) phone number printed in a flyer. So I got AARP calls, reminder calls from the drug store, her friends calling to say hello, you name it.

It got so bad I changed my message on my answering machine to say "If you are trying to reach Edith, this is the wrong number. Please hang up and try again. If you are trying to reach Rich, please leave a message." It took about eight years for me to stop getting Edith's phone calls.

I had a few people insisting it had to be the right number, because it was the number that was printed on the AARP flyer. Sorry, hon. Don't know what to tell you.

One time, I got this message on my answering machine: "*cackling laughter* No, this IS Edith's number! And I want to congratulate Edith on [whatever it was that she did at AARP]. *more cackling laughter* It would be like Edith to do this!" ...Fine. Argue with me. See if Edith ever gets the message.

I've had two brushes with this sort of thing. One was when I was living in the UK and Tasha got a second number on her mobile to keep job agents at a distance. Turns out the number was secondhand and she got heaps of calls from the jilted lovers and creditors of the number's previous owner. She had to get rid of the number in the end. And closer to home, after receiving regular mail at my house for a previous occupant, I got a visit from the police looking for him. Never did get to the bottom of that one as they were spoilsports and refused to spill the deets.

I've never had the "somebody else's number" (or email address) problem myself, but a place that I used to work had a main switchboard number that was very close (one digit different, or a pair of transposed digits) to the number of a nearby hotel. The receptionist had to keep fielding calls from people looking to reserve a room.
