Stupidest debate on the planet

The stupidest debate on the planet is the one I'm having with myself over Instgram. I refuse to have anything to do with Facebook. I am addicted to Instagram. Facebook owns Instagram. Facebook is planning to merge the two (with Wechat and Messenger thrown in the mix as well). So, eventually, I'm going to have to give up on Instagram. I'm trying to start weaning myself now and it's not going well.

I'm thinking I'll spend more time on Reddit. My subreddit list is one of expediency. Stuff I routinely research and/or want the latest updates for. Not interesting stuff. Also I hate the web version of Reddit and the Android app version of Reddit.

I need a better interface and better subreddits.

I actually did go out and get tortillas just like in the olden days. Wild. And I made a week of breakfast burritos. Bacon and cheese and egg.





I got the tortillas at Uwjimaya which is a very large Japanese grocery in the nest neighborhood. It's within easy walking distance but I drove. If you get their early enough, you can often score yesterday's sushi marked down. And today I did. I got a nice little platter - enough for lunch and dinner reduced from $15-$10. Nice score.

The last of my spending spree landed today. My wonderful comforter is looking too shabby but I love it's size and fluff. So I decided to try a duvet cover. I generally do not like duvet covers because they always look look lumpy and sloppy. But, they sure are cheap on Amazon so I got one. I did not like the feel of the fabric but it's great for fall and it sure looks nice.

A couple of weeks ago, I got a little nuts and ordered two more. They are wonderful patterns that go in my room and make me happy. I got two because I knew I'd be returning one or both.

So, of course, they are both wonderful and I cannot return either. They are amazingly beautifully made and very soft and nicely weighty. I'm now set for the winter. For a total of $60. Sweet.

I am on Reddit often, usually on the animation subreddits. I prefer LJ because you can actually carry on a longer conversation with people, but there are always interesting new content to browse through on Reddit.

All of those various apps owned by Facebook do different things, though, I don't know how much they can merge them before they become a confusing haze.

I wouldn't worry about giving up on IG until it truly is borked.

Your duvet covers are really lovely! After having been on the internet for 25 years, like the merest n00b I've only discovered Reddit this year. OMG. Currently trying to haul back on what must be one of the world's largest time sinks. I wish I worked for someone else so I wasn't only cheating myself.

I heard there was something mewe? Something like that - that focuses on privacy and is the anti-facebook. I haven't checked it out though, the down side is unless all your friends are on a platform it becomes pretty pointless..

I know that some of my friends – including some I'm sorry to have lost touch with – have migrated from Facebook to MeWe, but not enough of them for me to be ready to make the leap. (I could try doing both, but my daily catchup already takes too long as it is.)

I'm considering leaving Facebook and Instagram as well. Facebook because I just don't need it and Instagram because it's now blocking me every 10 days or so, saying I'm using "special sites" to recruit followers and therefore penalising me. I just can't get anyone from their help team to respond to me! Not even on Twitter.

Yeah. Instagram is making it more and more difficult for me to use so, screw 'em. I've enjoyed it and gotten a lot out of it, but, hey, I'm pretty sure I can have a rich, full life without it :)
