Besides collecting and presenting a shitload of numbers that I really don't need or want (but still obsess over), my Fitbit also tells me handy stuff. I can hear when my phone gets an email or a text but often it's across the room or my hands are busy. I can look at my watch and see who it's from and often even enough of the text to get the gist - at least enough to know whether or not it needs my immediate attention. It's so damn handy.

But yesterday, it quit sending me those notifications. I finally decided to track down the cause and about two screens into 'settings' Fitbit announces my phone must be rebooted before I can get any more notifications. WELL, why in the hell didn't you mention that before??

All fixed now.

It has gotten downright chilly in the past couple of days. It's 65 degrees (18c) in here right now. I'm enjoying that afghan I made - up close and personally!

One of our TV networks is airing a Canadian TV show called Transplant. It's a doctor/hospital show that's pretty good and mostly you do not notice it's no American except for two major things... 1. when the report a patient's fever, they do it in celsius. It's really hard for this dumb American to know whether this dude is dying or not. I keep trying to learn the celsius scale and I keep failing. 2. there are no plot lines around the patient's lack of insurance or ability to pay.

I made 8 breakfast burritos. Cleaned up the kitchen AND remembered to put tortillas on the shopping list.

I do feel badly for all of the kind, thoughtful, funny and good women named Karen. And I'm grateful that mocking the name Susan would be classified as elder abuse. It's at least one name that has not cycled back into popularity in the last 70 years.

I enjoyed Transplant -- it aired in Canada earlier this year. When I saw NBC was now airing it, I was wondering if Americans would pick up on the absence of discussing a patient's ability to pay for anything. Basically, anything over 37C is a fever. Anything over 40C is a VERY SERIOUS fever.

My best friend is named Susan. She is from an Amish family, so I think that makes a little more sense, as things maybe considered to be old fashioned are not that way at all in their communities. Aside from her, I've never known another Susan in my age group.

Hahaha that is so funny about "Karen." I'm Karen, but honestly I don't even usually think anything of it when people make Karen jokes. Like, it doesn't even really cross my mind that it's also my name.

Except that I have been writing postcards to voters in swing states lately and I started to feel a little weird about signing the name Karen so I started signing "Katie" just in case other people have negative associations with Karen.

One of the first anti-Semitic jokes I heard in Seattle was Jews don't name their daughters Susan because Sue is a verb.

I have a handy cheat sheet at work to help me work out temperatures. But I am not at work so I don’t know how cold 68 degrees is! Sorry, 65. I went to check and accidentally posted. Anyway I was going to say that I appreciate the translation to 18 :0)

Such a shame America doesn't use the same SI units as the rest of the world! You don't really need to learn the Celsius scale,(she says a bit tongue in cheek),negatives are below freezing and 3 figure numbers are above boiling:)

Normal body temp is a touch under 37, 39 is decidedly feverish, and 40+ is scary.

Back when we were still getting used to the temperatures on the weather chart now being in C, rather than the F of my childhood, I realised that 16=61, which was a useful weather point as it is about the temperature at which I reckon I can go out without my coat!

3. The main character is not in constant danger of being picked up by ICE.

I'm liking the show a fair amount. TiVo says it was originally aired (on Canadian TV maybe?) in April.

Well there goes half of the drama right there.

I stream the Chicago classical radio station. They have an announcer from New Zealand who always gives the weather temps in Celsius. It helps a lot to hear the number and be able to relate to it in real time.

I know a lot of younger Susans, maybe a lot of them were named after their older relatives?
My name is Katie and I get called Karen a lot by this guy who works in my apt bldg, I made a joke the first time he did it but it's starting to push my buttons now.

It's funny, I don't know a lot of people named Karen but one I do know has complained a couple of times about the name situation, but has also displayed some very "Karen" behavior since then. One example:
Someone signed off from a meeting in Teams and accidentally sent a message to someone else using the meeting chat instead of a direct one. But that person was in the meeting so they answered, and then they kept chatting. It was annoying, sure, but not as annoying ask Karen saying, "Can SOMEONE please tell them that they're chatting on an active meeting? It's really annoying and I'm this close to just getting so PISSED off."

You know, instead of just typing, "Hey guys, you're in the meeting chat."
