Stickie Love

Biggie continues his obsession with New Stickie. I woke up this morning and was so relieved not to find the damn thing in my bed. (I had put it away - not completely out of sight but behind a cushion so success!) But the minute my feet landed, they landed on New Stickie. He carries it from room to room and when he's ready for me to join in, he brings it up here on the couch. What a cat.

Today is Friday so Bake Off on Netflix. I'm enjoying the once a week drop. I'll miss it when it's done.

But, today I have a new project. Yes, if you are counting 'new projects' your counter is probably broken by now. I'm still on a color kick. I am very good at matching prints. But, solid color skills are not that great. There are a couple of knit and a whole bunch of crochet designers who can put together the most delicious color combinations but I'm not one of them. So I'm trying a new approach. Find a picture who's colors I love and create the scheme from it.

Damien Elwes is a painter that daphnep turned me on to. I love his colors. So I picked one of my favorites and a pattern that calls for only six colors.



I'm using the colors for something kind of like this. But the squares will be a little bigger.





A few weeks ago, I signed up for a Costco deals email list. I knew it was not a good idea but I did it anyway. I don't need or want a new TV or tires or insurance so, so far, it's been fine until today. My new boots will be here Tuesday. What the fuck do I need boots for? I'm not going anywhere and it rarely snows inside this condo. Sigh. Easy returns.

Time for a shower. Biggie usually hangs in the bathroom while I shower and, I suppose, today, Stickie will as well.

I'm the one who needs boots. My old ones are falling apart and I can't buy shoes through mail order or online because I have a weird overly high instep so I have to try them on before buying.

I had to give up on buying most women's shoes years ago because my feet are not only large they are also WIDE. (I have those high arches too.)
Even Zappo's hasn't helped. You can't buy what isn't being made.

I miss the days when shoes came in graduated widths, A-E (I always wore a D, myself). Nowadays, some styles come in "wide", which is sometimes OK.

And I won't buy shoes without trying the on, either.

Now that a good bit of time has passed, how do you rate your shower installation? I think it looks great but did you like the whole process and results. Do you miss your tub?

I have a fairly good vocabulary but I cannot find the words to appropriately express how wonderful that shower is. Every single morning, I love it all over again. It's bright and lovely to be in. So easy to get in and out of. The shower heads are wonderful. I only regret that I did not do it in March. I missed so many wonderful showers!! If I had to do it over, I'd do it in a heartbeat even if it cost twice as much. Seriously. Miss the tub. Not even a teensy tiny bit.

Hi Susan,

Cougar boots are wonderful for a high arch and wide feet. I've been wearing them for years. The Vienna are my fav and are waterproof suede. They fit true to size. Only downside is they don't have an arch support so I add one myself.

I love your idea of taking colours from a painting. I've been wanting to crochet a granny blanket and I just suck at combining colours. I'm going to give this a try.

oh i wish it was variegated! but when i get to the end of the section, i cut and start a new color. it means lots of ends to weave in but i do it as i go so not so bad...

I was in Daiso in Auckland this morning and had a look to see if they had any Stickies. (You know, in case Biggie comes for a visit.) Sadly I didn't see any, but I did get a packet of coffee-flavoured sweets, so all good.
