We had big wind gusts and rain last night. This morning the wind is still blowing and The Tree That I Hate is getting nakeder and nakeder. Hi neighbors!!

The governor did not shut the state down last night. Instead he told everyone to... exact same message he keeps saying over and over again. I'm very perplexed over how he looks at rising numbers and expects that simply repeating everything he's been saying is going to make a difference. He's not expected to do anything at all before Monday which means more cases, more hospitalizations and more deaths. I can't say I'm thrilled with this.

Ha, he just announced that he and the governors of California and Oregon are calling for travelers who come in from other states to self quarantine for two weeks. No penalty for non compliance. Like the people who think it's fine to travel are going to do that.

hahahaha one of my favorite reporters just tweeted "immaculate deception" hahaha nailed it. (I actually hate it when reporters do that - use one account for work and personal. And so share their personal opinions on their work account. I actually don't really approve of journalists having personal opinions - very old school there. But, at least he's opinion was the right one this time.)

Other leaders in the country are taking action, I wish ours would.

Enough of that. But that's really all I have. I did a truckload of laundry yesterday. I do have leaves to pick up off the terrace. There's a new bake off episode... So, in general, a very busy day. ha! It's ok. As usual, I have plenty of diversions with no need to open my front door.

Our Governor used the emergency alert system to get everyone to tune into his YouTube message so he could "ask" everyone to "please consider" masking up....

" I actually don't really approve of journalists having personal opinions "
people used to get confused when I'd get mad when some newsreader would talk about some crazy crap Michael Jackson did but insist on calling him the king of pop. Um, they're supposed to be objective (and anyway that's a name he gave himself)

Yup, definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results

In yesterday's twice-weekly press conference/Corona virus-19 'update,' Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said, "We HAVE TO STOP THIS THING, NOW. IMMEDIATELY." And he went on to talk about the necessity of masks, of making adjustments to what we'd normally have done for Thanksgiving or Christmas, and so on and so forth.
He talked about how our hospitals are in peril of being overwhelmed ---which they are ---so we can't afford to have any more Ohioans coming down with Covid.

He talked about the same old stuff, but unlike some other states' governors, he didn't say, "This takes effect Monday," or even "...tomorrow."
He said NOW, IMMEDIATELY.
And he means it.

I don't get how or why any official be that person the Governor, Hizzoner the Mayor, or the County Administrator, would declare the necessity of seriously restricting gatherings or how businesses may conduct business because we have to stop the spread of this virus, and say, "Staring five days from now."
Great thinking: give people a warning of the amount of time they have left to do all their partying, bar hopping, sports event-attending, concert-going, and whatever else, so they still have that much time to spread the contagion.

The only reason I think Inslee bothered speaking last night was because he's urging people to only see folks outside the house for Thanksgiving they know have quarantined for 14 days... because Thanksgiving is 14 days away.

So instead of putting any kind of restrictions, or throwing in "oh by the way, only see people who've been at home for two weeks" and it's less than two weeks til Thanksgiving, he gave a little family-centric speech now and let people know more may be coming.

I back Inslee 95% of the time, so I appreciate any kind of something versus nothing. At the same time, they're highly considering more measures... are they really going to have a more concrete idea of what they should do in a few days versus now? Regardless, none of it affects me in that I don't see people outside my house (except for when I was working, but I'm not working now) and when we go get groceries and get to-go orders from local restaurants to help keep them afloat, so he could shut everything down and it'd be no skin off my ass. I wish there were penalties for breaking these restrictions. Consequences for actions. We've spent the last four years (and more) living with a dictator who gets away with everything but murder with little-to-no consequences, so of course that's going to embolden others. *eyeroll*

Enjoy Bake Off. We have that to watch tonight as well!

The reporter that I know personally uses a fake name when he does his personal writing. Not only to hide his opinions from readers, but also so that any potential papers that might hire him don't connect him with his personal stuff. He's even publish a novel under the fake name. He keeps his professional journalism connected to his real name neutral when it comes to politics and opinions.
