As I've mentioned before (likely every two weeks) the house cleaner's clock is different than mine. She says she'll be here before 10 or at 9:30 and arrives at 10:07. Pretty much every time. If she's later than 10:15, we have words and she knows that so she's never later than 10:07 or 08. At least now, the pandemic has us texting which is way more helpful than no communication at all. I text her the night before or first thing in the morning and she confirms she'll be here and provides a fictional time.

Today she she said she'd be here at 9. On the outside chance this would be the one time she was right, I packed up a chromebook and my phone and was out of the house by 9. My plan was to park someplace and type up this entry then do the grocery shopping and then maybe go to Goodwill, depending on when she was done.

I pulled over downtown into a nice people watching street parking place and got the beep from the door sensor that she was there!! 9:15! Holy fuck. So, I figured I'd go ahead and get the grocery store out of the way first.

The store was really not nearly as crowded as I expected. It's a very upscale (expensive) but large grocery with a huge staff. You cannot go 2 seconds or 2 steps without having a very helpful employee to answer any question. So a lot of the 'crowd' today was staff. I got my full dinner. (No butter turkey this year :( and it looks wonderful.) Then I shopped my list. I did not have paper objects and forgot to look to see if they were short but I did notice that there had been, apparently, a run on crescent rolls. Not one anywhere. But, that was not fatal since I now cannot remember why they were on the list

But, it did remind me that they are 1. fairly convenient and 2. full of pretty darned good stuff. I forget to shop there but think I'll remember this time.

I shopped slowly and looked at everything. When I got everything, I checked out and loaded up the car and my phone said that the house cleaner had finished up and gone! The coast to home was clear!

So. here I am, in a very clean house, now full of groceries. Doesn't get much better than that.

I'm still having some technical issues with the ceiling fan and Alexa and Google. We're going to have to have a meeting. But, first I think I'll put the groceries away.

Happily, I have exactly zero reasons to leave this condo for two weeks. I'll be here, safe and sound if you need me.

What a bummer about the butter turkey! I was just thinking about that a couple days ago and I wondered if maybe this year the butter would be in a different shape. A pilgrim maybe, or a cornucopia.

Ah, for some reason I thought it came as part of a package deal when you purchased the meal.

Aw, I was looking forward to the butter turkey! I hope you manage to have a splendid meal even without it.

Town and Country was completely cleaned out of heavy cream, so I wound up going to Safeway anyway. The whole point of the exercise was just to visit one store . . . .

When you say butter turkey, you mean the little butter sculpture, right? I have a funny (to me) anecdote about them. Many years ago, an lj film critic friend who is friends with actor Rose Abdoo mentioned that she was selling miniature food sculptures and I decided one would be a fun gift for Garrett. I got one and it turned out great and we're friends on Facebook now. The year I got a butter turkey sculpture she saw the post and that's how I learned that actor Rose Abdoo's sister is a high-up employee at the butter turkey sculpture company. She even posted a picture this year because said sister shipped her some in a dry ice pack.
